Technical Infrastructure Architect

Initial contract to March 2027, £550-£650pd inside IR35, hybrid - approx. 2 days per week onsite in Surrey

We're looking for an experienced Technical Infrastructure Architect to play a key role in one of the UK's largest local government transformation programmes. You'll lead the technical architecture for the workstream ensuring critical infrastructure is secure, resilient and ready for the new authority set up.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the design and assurance of technical infrastructure across a complex shared-service environment.
  • Assess legacy infrastructure and develop transition strategies.
  • Define architecture and standards across networking, Microsoft 365, identity, telephony and cyber security.
  • Produce technical designs, decision records and implementation standards.
  • Identify and manage technical risks, dependencies and service continuity.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders including councils, suppliers and technical teams to deliver assured solutions.
  • Provide technical leadership across multiple concurrent workstreams.

  • Proven experience as an Infrastructure Architect on large-scale transformation programmes.
  • Strong expertise in infrastructure, networking, identity and access management, Microsoft 365 and cyber security.
  • Experience designing integration and migration solutions across complex legacy estates.
  • Knowledge of modern architecture practices including cloud platforms, APIs, microservices, Agile and DevOps.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly.
  • Experience delivering within public sector or multi-organisation environments is highly desirable.
