Infrastructure Automation Engineer (Ansible / AWX) | DevOps
This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for an Infrastructure Automation Engineer (Ansible / AWX) | DevOps based in United Kingdom.
We are seeking an experienced Infrastructure Automation Engineer to strengthen infrastructure operations through scalable automation and reliable DevOps practices. In this fully remote role, you will manage and optimize lifecycle automation using Ansible and AWX while improving CI/CD pipelines and operational workflows. You will develop Bash and Python scripts to eliminate repetitive tasks, increase efficiency, and ensure consistent infrastructure deployments. Working across Linux and Windows systems, databases, and networking environments, you will contribute to both customer-facing and internal infrastructure projects. You will also help establish documentation standards, identify technical improvements, and support knowledge sharing across the team. This opportunity combines hands-on engineering, independent project execution, and continuous professional development in a collaborative environment.
Accountabilities
- Manage and improve infrastructure lifecycle automation using Ansible and AWX, ensuring reliable, repeatable, and scalable operational processes.
- Build, maintain, and optimize CI/CD pipelines, including the integration of existing external automation solutions.
- Independently manage clearly defined automation tasks, taking ownership from planning through implementation and completion.
- Develop and maintain Bash and Python scripts to automate recurring tasks, streamline operations, and improve efficiency.
- Document infrastructure environments, systems, configurations, and implementation procedures thoroughly before making changes.
- Design and document automation and network environments for internal initiatives and customer projects.
- Work across Linux and Windows systems, databases, and networking environments to support reliable infrastructure operations.
- Identify opportunities to improve configurations, automation workflows, technical standards, and overall infrastructure quality.
- Train and onboard new colleagues, share technical knowledge, and contribute to the team's development.
- Participate in a rotating shift schedule, including nights, weekends, and public holidays.
- Support colleagues with additional technical tasks when needed, contributing to team objectives and expanding your own expertise.

Requirements
- At least five years of relevant professional experience, excluding educational programs and internships.
- Extensive hands-on experience with Ansible and AWX for infrastructure automation and lifecycle management.
- Strong scripting skills in Bash and Python, including the ability to develop automation scripts independently.
- Extensive knowledge of Linux and Windows operating systems and administration.
- Solid understanding of database technologies and networking fundamentals.
- Experience working with CI/CD pipelines and integrating automation into operational workflows.
- Ability to document technical environments, configurations, and implementation procedures clearly and consistently.
- Strong problem-solving skills and an independent, structured approach to technical work.
- A strong sense of ownership, reliability, and commitment to delivering tasks from planning through completion.
- Ability and motivation to train, onboard, and support colleagues while sharing technical expertise.
- Fluency in both English and Spanish.
- Willingness to participate in rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, and public holidays.
- Knowledge of German is an advantage.
