Job Title: Infrastructure Automation Lead - Financial Services - Contract

📍 Location: London, UK
🕐 Employment type: Contract, 6 months
🌍 Environment: Financial Services Environment

About the Role

We are searching on behalf of our client for this role. This position is not with OVI.

We are seeking a highly experienced Lead Infrastructure Automation Engineer to drive a strategic infrastructure modernisation and automation programme across the EMEA region. This is a newly created role within the Infrastructure team, focused on transforming a largely manual infrastructure environment into a scalable, automated, Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) platform. The successful candidate will be a hands-on technical leader who can independently define, design, and deliver automation solutions from a greenfield starting point.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the design and implementation of Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) solutions across on-premises and future cloud environments.
  • Build and automate infrastructure provisioning, configuration management, and operational processes using industry-standard automation tools.
  • Develop automated server provisioning capabilities, moving from manual infrastructure requests towards self-service deployment workflows.
  • Design automation frameworks that enable users to submit infrastructure requirements through standardised forms and automatically provision required resources.
  • Reduce operational overhead by automating manual infrastructure activities, including server builds, software installation and configuration, patch management processes, validation and compliance activities, and infrastructure lifecycle management.
  • Define and implement infrastructure standards, governance, and best practices.
  • Collaborate with Infrastructure, Operations, and Engineering teams across multiple regions.
  • Ensure all automation solutions are designed with future cloud migration and cloud-native adoption in mind.
  • Support infrastructure modernisation initiatives involving OpenShift, Kubernetes, and hybrid cloud platforms.
  • Act as the technical lead for infrastructure automation initiatives and help build and mentor a future automation team.
  • Drive continuous improvement across infrastructure operations through automation and standardisation.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
