Role Overview
We are seeking a hands-on Infrastructure & Cloud Engineer to operate, support and improve enterprise infrastructure across on-premises, hybrid and public cloud environments. This role is technical and requires practical experience supporting infrastructure and cloud platforms, with a strong focus on Azure, Microsoft 365, identity and automation.
As an Infrastructure and Cloud Engineer, you will resolve incidents, support change activity, contribute to service improvements and work closely with project, operations and service desk teams to maintain secure, reliable and well-documented platforms for Civica customers and internal services.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide hands-on technical support for enterprise infrastructure and cloud platforms across customer and internal environments.
- Diagnose, investigate and resolve incidents, major incidents, problems and service requests within agreed SLAs.
- Implement approved technical changes in line with change control procedures and maintain clear supporting documentation.
- Work with Project, Operations and Service Desk teams to ensure effective support handover, knowledge sharing and service transition.
- Monitor ITSM queues, liaise with third-party suppliers and contribute to continual service improvement initiatives.

Essential Skills & Experience
Cloud & Azure
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Azure IaaS, PaaS, networking, storage and platform services including: Azure VMs, Azure Firewall, Entra ID, Application Gateway & WAF, SIEM (Azure Sentinel), Defender for Cloud, Azure Fabric, AI Foundry, Azure Functions, Logic Apps, Front Door, App Service, Dev Box, Azure Data Factory, Virtual Network Gateways (VPN).
- Experience supporting Microsoft Entra ID, Conditional Access and identity governance concepts.
- Awareness of cloud governance, cost optimisation and Microsoft Azure operational best practice.
Infrastructure
- Experience supporting Windows Server environments, including DNS, DHCP, IIS, NPS, RDS, DFS and Group Policy.
- Experience administering Active Directory across multi-domain and multi-forest environments.
- Experience with virtualisation technologies including VMware and Hyper-V.
- Understanding of storage, clustering and resilient infrastructure designs across local and geographically distributed environments.
Security & Resilience
- Working knowledge of cloud security principles, including least privilege access, secure configuration and security-by-design practices.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Defender, vulnerability remediation processes and secure platform operations.
- Understanding of Cyber Essentials Plus aligned technical controls and security best practice.
- Experience supporting resilient cloud platforms and disaster recovery solutions across hybrid infrastructure environments.
- Experience supporting network security technologies, including Azure App Gateway/Firewalls and Sophos firewall platforms.

Automation & DevOps
- Experience implementing and supporting Infrastructure as Code solutions using Terraform and Bicep.
- Experience with scripting and automation technologies including PowerShell to improve service reliability and operational efficiency.
- Understanding of CI/CD concepts and the interaction between infrastructure platforms and cloud delivery pipelines.
- Experience supporting Azure DevOps, source control management, CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure delivery processes would be advantageous.
- Experience with configuration management tools, such as Ansible or Puppet, would be desirable.
Operations & Tooling
- Experience supporting Microsoft 365 tenant configuration, administration and service integration.
- Experience with observability tools (PRTG, Grafana, Azure Monitor, DataDog, New Relic) for SRE.
- Experience supporting monitoring, alerting and observability platforms to proactively identify and remediate service issues.
- Experience with backup technologies such as Veeam, Azure Backup, Commvault or similar enterprise backup platforms.
- Ability to assess technical risk and implement solutions in accordance with organisational security and governance requirements.
