Passive Infrastructure Consultant

Location: Remote
Sectors: Data Centres, Commercial Offices & Retail

Surge is looking for an experienced Passive Infrastructure Consultant to support consultancy and design projects across data centre, office and retail environments.

This role suits someone with a strong technical background in passive infrastructure, previous design experience and the ability to manage multiple projects while building lasting client relationships.

The Role

  • Provide consultancy and technical guidance on passive infrastructure, including structured cabling, fibre optic systems, containment and communications room layouts.
  • Develop and review designs, specifications and technical documentation to meet client requirements.
  • Manage multiple projects, balancing deadlines, priorities and deliverables.
  • Act as a key point of contact for clients, maintaining clear communication throughout each project.
  • Engage confidently with stakeholders, presenting designs, explaining technical recommendations and providing progress updates.
  • Coordinate with contractors, project managers and wider design teams to support successful project delivery.
  • Identify project risks and design challenges, recommending practical solutions.

  • Previous experience in passive infrastructure consultancy or a related design role.
  • Strong knowledge of structured cabling and fibre optic infrastructure.
  • Relevant project experience within data centres, commercial offices and/or retail environments.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder engagement and client relationship management skills.
  • The ability to translate client requirements into clear, practical designs.
  • A proactive, organised approach and the ability to work independently in a remote role.
