About this Role

We are seeking a Cloud Infrastructure & Developer Platform Lead to provide technical leadership for Vodafone’s cloud infrastructure and internal developer platform capabilities. This role is responsible for engineering, reliability, automation and continuous evolution of cloud-native infrastructure that supports scalable product and service delivery.

Working closely with Cloud Architects, Platform Technical Leads, security specialists and engineering teams, you will translate architectural direction into practical platform capabilities, delivering infrastructure through code, automation and self-service experiences. The position combines hands-on engineering expertise with platform ownership, enabling reliable, secure and AI-native software delivery across multiple engineering teams.

What you’ll do

  • Lead cloud infrastructure and internal developer platform engineering within a platform capability or engineering domain.
  • Design, build and operate cloud infrastructure and internal developer platform capabilities.
  • Deliver self-service platform capabilities that enhance developer productivity and reduce engineering friction.
  • Own infrastructure-as-code, automated provisioning, platform automation and engineering environments.
  • Translate cloud architecture strategies into implementation plans and engineering roadmaps.
  • Build and maintain reliable, secure and self-service engineering environments.
  • Drive automation across provisioning, deployment, testing, observability and operational processes.
  • Ensure infrastructure meets agreed requirements for security, operability, compliance and resilience.
  • Improve developer productivity through reusable platform services, engineering tooling and automation.
  • Support AI-native software delivery through platform capabilities, governance, automation and operational controls.
  • Drive reliability, security, observability and operational readiness across platform services.
  • Manage technical risks, infrastructure incidents, dependencies and operational blockers.
  • Provide technical leadership, mentoring and engineering guidance while remaining actively involved in platform engineering decisions.
  • Build platform capability, operational knowledge and engineering practices that support long-term Vodafone ownership and independence.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
