Infra / DevOps Engineer, Bristol (hybrid), up to £80k
We’re looking for at least 4 Infrastructure / DevOps Engineers to support a small established Infra team at one of Europe’s fastest growing defence SMEs.
Who they are
They built next-gen sensing and communications systems that operate at the edge. Think frontline teams making decisions with whatever they've got, and technology that protects people and critical assets in demanding environments.
This particular Infra team has 8 members. They’re a close-knit team who are highly collaborative and frequently knowledge sharing. There will be lots of context on the older projects to get you up and running.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Why you're a good match
You’ve got the grades and the economics background, and your bank internship is exactly the experience this scheme looks for. Apply soon — deadlines close within the month.
Experience fit
Your summer at the bank plus your econometrics coursework map directly to the day-one responsibilities on this scheme — client modelling, market briefings, and deal support.
Only hits
No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.
The first 6 months:
- Upon joining you’ll take over a couple of established AWS projects, learn the bespoke environments, and make them properly production-grade.
- Cut the support burden on existing projects
- Have a real say in architectural direction
- Then move onto newer projects with more freedom to spread your wings
This role isn't one of forty people in a platform team shuffling tickets. Most projects have a single engineer on them. There are more junior engineers to lean on and a team that is super supportive, but ultimately you will have ownership of a project. Expect some ambiguity, because things change fast.
