The opportunity

Birchwell Associates is supporting a growing organisation in the search for an Infrastructure Engineer. This role will suit an experienced infrastructure professional who enjoys combining hands-on support with project work and continuous improvement.

You will help maintain a dependable Microsoft and cloud environment, support network infrastructure and contribute to upgrades, migrations, security improvements and wider technical projects across the business.

What you will be doing

  • Support, maintain and improve Microsoft server, desktop and cloud infrastructure.
  • Administer Microsoft 365, Entra ID, Active Directory and related identity services.
  • Monitor and troubleshoot network, connectivity, performance and availability issues.
  • Contribute to infrastructure upgrades, cloud migrations and technical improvement projects.
  • Support backup, disaster recovery, patching, security and operational resilience.
  • Produce technical documentation and work with colleagues, suppliers and third-party support partners.

What we are looking for

  • Commercial experience in an infrastructure, systems or third-line support role.
  • Strong knowledge of Windows Server, Active Directory and Microsoft 365.
  • Experience with Azure, Entra ID or comparable cloud infrastructure services.
  • Good understanding of networking, including DNS, DHCP, VPNs, firewalls and switching.
  • Experience supporting virtualised environments, backup platforms and infrastructure monitoring tools.
  • A structured approach to troubleshooting and clear communication with technical and non-technical colleagues.
