The opportunity
Birchwell Associates is supporting a growing organisation in the search for an Infrastructure Engineer. This role will suit an experienced infrastructure professional who enjoys combining hands-on support with project work and continuous improvement.
You will help maintain a dependable Microsoft and cloud environment, support network infrastructure and contribute to upgrades, migrations, security improvements and wider technical projects across the business.
What you will be doing
- Support, maintain and improve Microsoft server, desktop and cloud infrastructure.
- Administer Microsoft 365, Entra ID, Active Directory and related identity services.
- Monitor and troubleshoot network, connectivity, performance and availability issues.
- Contribute to infrastructure upgrades, cloud migrations and technical improvement projects.
- Support backup, disaster recovery, patching, security and operational resilience.
- Produce technical documentation and work with colleagues, suppliers and third-party support partners.

What we are looking for
- Commercial experience in an infrastructure, systems or third-line support role.
- Strong knowledge of Windows Server, Active Directory and Microsoft 365.
- Experience with Azure, Entra ID or comparable cloud infrastructure services.
- Good understanding of networking, including DNS, DHCP, VPNs, firewalls and switching.
- Experience supporting virtualised environments, backup platforms and infrastructure monitoring tools.
- A structured approach to troubleshooting and clear communication with technical and non-technical colleagues.
What is on offer
- Salary between £40,000 and £50,000, depending on experience.
- Hybrid working from Preston.
