About the Role
Wellington College is seeking a thoughtful and technically accomplished IT Infrastructure Engineer to play a central part in sustaining and enhancing the technology services on which its community depends. This is an opportunity to work across a varied and evolving estate, helping to provide dependable, secure systems for staff and pupils throughout the campus.
Working within IT Services, the successful candidate will bring strong practical experience of enterprise networking, core services and infrastructure support. They will take ownership of maintaining the performance and availability of key network, server and cloud environments, while applying sound security practice to protect College services. The role will involve investigating more complex incidents, identifying their causes with care and precision, and ensuring that solutions are clearly recorded and effectively communicated.

The postholder will work closely with the Director of IT Development and Services, the IT Operations Manager, helpdesk colleagues and external technology partners. They will provide specialist support when required and help colleagues build confidence in initial fault assessment and escalation. There will also be scope to contribute to well-planned improvement work, evaluating technologies and supporting developments that strengthen the College’s infrastructure for the future.
Key Requirements
- Confident knowledge of TCP/IP networking, DHCP, DNS, Microsoft Windows environments, Hyper-V, Active Directory, Microsoft 365 and Azure
- Experience of supporting sophisticated infrastructure incidents
- Ability to explain technical matters clearly to a range of audiences
- Familiarity with areas such as endpoint security, next-generation firewalls, Intune, enterprise wireless or related infrastructure technologies would be welcomed
