Specification
We are looking for a motivated Infrastructure Engineer who is passionate about technology and enjoys working across both modern Cloud services and traditional on-premises infrastructure.
NUS Consulting Group is an independent, privately-owned energy management and sustainability consultancy, with 19 offices worldwide and our main UK presence in Redhill, Surrey. For over 90 years, we have specialised in providing innovative solutions to commercial and industrial businesses in how they manage their energy needs.
As part of our global technology team, you will be responsible for the maintenance, support, and continual improvement of the company's core infrastructure platforms. This role combines hands-on support of physical server, storage, and network infrastructure located within our UK data centres with administration of Microsoft Cloud and Hybrid technologies.
The successful candidate will have strong technical experience across Microsoft infrastructure technologies, including Windows Server, Hyper-V virtualization, Azure, Microsoft 365, Active Directory, Entra ID, and MS SQL Server. You will be comfortable working independently, troubleshooting complex issues, maintaining critical production systems, and supporting infrastructure projects that help drive the company's technology transformation.
This is a highly hands-on technical role requiring regular work within two UK data centres, including installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of physical infrastructure.
Core Responsibilities
- Maintain and support Windows Server infrastructure across physical, virtual and cloud environments.
- Administer and support Microsoft Hyper-V virtualization platforms.
- Monitor and maintain server performance, availability, capacity and security.
- Manage and support Microsoft Azure resources and hybrid cloud services.
- Administer Microsoft 365 services, including Exchange Online, SharePoint Online and Teams.
- Support Active Directory, Entra ID, DNS, DHCP, Group Policy and identity management services.
- Maintain and support Microsoft SQL Server environments.
- Install, configure, upgrade and troubleshoot physical and virtual servers.
- Assist with design and implementation of infrastructure improvements and modernization initiatives.
- Manage backup systems and perform disaster recovery testing and validation.
- Monitor infrastructure and respond to system alerts, incidents and service requests.
- Install, maintain and troubleshoot network infrastructure including switches, firewalls, VPNs and wireless technologies.
- Rack, cable, replace and maintain server, storage and networking equipment within company data centres.
- Maintain infrastructure documentation, asset records and operational procedures.
- Investigate security vulnerabilities and assist with remediation activities.
- Support infrastructure projects and technology rollouts across global offices.
- Work with third-party vendors and support providers to resolve technical issues.
- Record, prioritize, address, track and report on support incidents and infrastructure problems.
- Continually assess infrastructure performance and recommend improvements.

Candidate Profile
- Minimum 3-5 years' experience in an Infrastructure Engineer, Systems Administrator or equivalent role.
- Proven experience supporting Microsoft Windows Server environments.
- Strong experience with Microsoft Hyper-V virtualization technologies.
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft cloud and hybrid technologies including Azure, Microsoft 365, Active Directory and Entra ID.
- Experience administering Microsoft SQL Server environments.
- Strong networking knowledge, including TCP/IP, VLANs, routing, switching, VPNs and firewalls.
- Experience supporting enterprise server hardware and storage platforms.
- Familiarity with backup, disaster recovery and business continuity solutions.
- Working knowledge of PowerShell scripting and automation.
- Familiarity with cybersecurity best practices and infrastructure security controls.
- Experience working within data centre environments and supporting physical infrastructure.
- Proven ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues.
- Strong documentation, organisational and problem-solving skills.
- Proven experience collaborating with colleagues, vendors and stakeholders across multiple locations.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Desirable Skills
- Microsoft Azure Administrator certification.
- Microsoft Windows Server certifications.
- Experience with Microsoft Intune and endpoint management.
- Experience supporting hybrid infrastructure environments.
- Experience working within ISO 27001 and ISO 9001 controlled environments.
- Understanding of networking platforms such as Cisco, Fortinet, Ubiquiti, or Juniper.
