Infrastructure Engineer

Job Description
Developing, deploying, and supporting infrastructure services across secure environments. Supporting the operation, maintenance, and optimization of multi-vendor infrastructure platforms. Creating scripts and automation solutions to improve deployment and operational efficiency. Troubleshooting and resolving technical issues to maintain service availability and performance. Supporting engineering project delivery and platform improvement initiatives. Contributing to the implementation of security controls and governance processes. Producing and maintaining technical documentation and operational procedures. Collaborating with internal teams, suppliers, and stakeholders to deliver secure and reliable services.
Skills and Experiences
- Experience with Windows and Linux operating systems.
- Knowledge of VMware virtualization technologies.
- Understanding of networking technologies, including Cisco and Aruba platforms.
- Experience with VDI, storage, and backup technologies.
- Scripting and automation experience.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Understanding of cyber security principles and secure system operations.
- Knowledge of ITIL and Agile methodologies.

About the Team
The IT Engineering team delivers and supports secure, mission-critical infrastructure services that underpin key National Security and Government programmes. Working across a range of technologies and environments, the team combines technical excellence, innovation, and collaboration to deliver secure and resilient solutions that support critical customer outcomes.

Please be aware that many roles at BAE Systems are subject to both security and export control restrictions. These restrictions mean that factors such as your nationality, any nationalities you may have previously held, and your place of birth can restrict the roles you are eligible to perform within the organisation. All applicants must as a minimum achieve Baseline Personnel Security Standard. Many roles also require higher levels of National Security Vetting where applicants must typically have 5 to 10 years of continuous residency in the UK depending on the vetting level required for the role, to allow for meaningful security vetting checks.
