Infrastructure Engineer
£60,000 to £70,000
Location: Central London
Hybrid: x3 Days a week in office.
An established UK business is hiring an Infrastructure Engineer as it scales its technology estate toward enterprise grade.
This is a hands-on role across cloud and on-prem. The environment is cloud-first, built mostly on Azure with a smaller on-premise footprint across a handful of sites. You would split your time roughly evenly between project work and business as usual, owning your own workstreams rather than just picking up tickets.
What makes this one interesting is the mix. A lot of infrastructure roles pigeonhole you into cloud or systems. This one needs both, someone who knows enough across the two to build things well rather than just keep the lights on.
What you would be doing:
- Building and improving infrastructure across cloud and on-prem, from compute and storage through to networking and physical kit.
- Owning project work as the estate scales, including the standards and baselines that let other teams spin up cloud resources safely.
- Owning incidents and problems end to end, digging into root cause, and troubleshooting across different technologies as an escalation point.
- Keeping the estate secure and healthy, covering identity and access, patching and disaster recovery.
- Automating the repetitive manual work over time. If your automation is light right now that is fine, they will happily upskill you here.
- Sharing a light on-call rota once you are through probation. It rarely goes off, it comes round infrequently, and it is paid separately on top of salary.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Every day your agent scans the market matching roles against what actually matters to you, not just keywords on a CV.
Why you're a good match
You’ve got the grades and the economics background, and your bank internship is exactly the experience this scheme looks for. Apply soon — deadlines close within the month.
Experience fit
Your summer at the bank plus your econometrics coursework map directly to the day-one responsibilities on this scheme — client modelling, market briefings, and deal support.
Only hits
No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.
What they actually need from you:
- Solid hands-on Azure experience. Enough to build and secure resources and reason through how you would set something up, not just click around a portal.
- A real grounding in server and on-prem infrastructure, with the troubleshooting to back it up.
- The ability to take a brief and get most of the way there on your own, then check direction with a lead. Think confident mid-level, not senior, and not someone who needs their hand held on every step.
- Core networking, virtualisation, M365 and SAN/NAS storage.

Nice to have, but honestly not essential:
- Terraform, Ansible or other automation and infrastructure-as-code tooling.
- Exposure to a second cloud platform alongside Azure.
- Any experience of scaling a business toward enterprise, or across multiple regions.
Why it is worth a look:
- This is real build work in a company growing quickly and expanding internationally.
- You get real project work rather than caretaking, exposure to modern tooling, a collaborative team you can lean on, and a clear route to senior as the team grows.
If you have worked across both cloud and systems, and can talk through how you would build something rather than recite it from a textbook, apply today for immediate consideration. Please note they are unable to offer sponsorship at this time.
