INFRASTRUCTURE ENGINEER
Leeds, Manchester or Newcastle Office | Hybrid Working | 3 Days per Week in the Office
We are looking for an Infrastructure Engineer to join our growing Transport team. This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer with experience in highway, infrastructure and drainage design who is looking to further develop their technical skills while working on a variety of projects across the UK.
Working alongside experienced engineers and project managers, you will contribute to the planning, design, and delivery of infrastructure schemes, helping to create sustainable engineering solutions that support communities and clients.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist with the design and delivery of highway and infrastructure projects.
- Prepare engineering drawings, calculations, reports, and technical documentation.
- Develop highway drainage and surface water management solutions for infrastructure schemes.
- Undertake drainage design and modelling using industry standard software.
- Apply relevant standards and design guidance, including DMRB, Sewerage Sector Guidance, and Local Authority requirements.
- Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to deliver projects on time and within budget.
- Participate in site visits, inspections, and surveys, identifying and reporting any issues.
- Support project managers with programme delivery, coordination, and client requirements.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and technical knowledge sharing.
- Build positive relationships with clients, contractors, and internal stakeholders.
- Take ownership of your professional development and work towards chartership if not already achieved.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
EDUCATION
- Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in Civil Engineering or a related discipline - preferred but not essential.
- Working towards professional accreditation such as ICE Chartership, or recently achieved Incorporated Engineer status.
EXPERIENCE
- Typically 2-5 years' experience within civil or infrastructure engineering.
- Experience in highway and infrastructure design projects.
- Experience in highway drainage, surface water drainage and SuDS design.
- Experience delivering design packages under the guidance of senior engineers.
- Familiarity with drainage modelling and hydraulic design principles.
- Experience working within a consultancy environment is desirable.
TECHNICAL SKILLS
- Good understanding of civil engineering design principles and industry standards.
- Experience using design software such as Civil 3D and InfoDrainage.
- Ability to undertake infrastructure and drainage design calculations.
- Knowledge of DMRB, Water UK Sewerage Sector Guidance and Local Authority design standards.
- Ability to prepare engineering calculations, reports, and design documentation.
- Understanding of project delivery processes and quality requirements.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
