Infrastructure Engineer

Location: Cambridge

In-office expectation: Once every two weeks

Employment type: Permanent

Salary: £55,000 to £70,000, dependent on experience

Why this role exists

Everything Redgate does depends on infrastructure that is reliable, secure and simple to run, from the office network to the identity services everyone signs in with. This role sits in Technical Operations’ Infrastructure Team and helps look after those foundations across physical, virtual and cloud environments, while making them easier to run through automation.

About Redgate

Redgate brings together people who want to do their best work in an environment built on trust, accountability, and collaboration. We build solutions that help data professionals securely manage the data and databases that their organizations depend on, a space that’s only becoming more critical as systems scale, data regulations increase, and AI adoption accelerates.

About the role

As an Infrastructure Engineer, you’ll help provision, operate and improve the physical, virtual and cloud-based infrastructure Redgate runs on. You’ll work closely with teams across the business to deliver secure, scalable solutions, with a focus on building things that are reliable and then using automation to keep them that way.

  • Real variety across on-prem and cloud, from networking, virtualization and storage to identity platforms (Active Directory, ADFS, Entra, SSO and MFA) and core Windows and Linux environments.
  • Ownership of Redgate’s local networks, including WiFi, switches, firewalls and internet connections.
  • Scope to use scripting (PowerShell preferred) to make work more repeatable and cut down manual effort, alongside monitoring, troubleshooting and backup testing so recovery works when it’s needed.
  • A trusted escalation point for complex infrastructure incidents and Service Desk issues, working with suppliers, external support teams and the Security Manager to find and fix infrastructure vulnerabilities.
  • Room for judgement on pragmatic “value decisions”, such as build or buy, physical or cloud, and where it makes sense to standardize.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
