Infrastructure Engineer
Location: Whiteley (Office-Based)
Salary: Competitive
Hours: Full-time, Monday to Friday, including participation in an on-call support rota

We're looking for an Infrastructure Engineer to join our Whiteley-based team. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who enjoys a hands-on technical role and thrives in a fast-paced environment.
You'll play a key role in supporting and maintaining our voice and PCI-compliant platforms, ensuring customers receive reliable and secure services. From investigating complex VoIP and network issues to deploying new customer solutions and maintaining critical infrastructure, you'll be at the heart of our operations.
Working alongside experienced engineers, technology partners, and customers, you'll have the opportunity to expand your expertise across voice technologies, networking, Linux systems, and cloud-based infrastructure.
The Role
As an Infrastructure Engineer, you will:
- Diagnose and resolve incidents affecting our PCI and communications platforms.
- Analyse network traffic and packet captures using tools such as Wireshark.
- Investigate SIP, VoIP, and media-related service issues.
- Collaborate with telecom providers, technology vendors, and customers to identify and resolve faults.
- Deploy and configure new customer environments and services.
- Carry out scheduled maintenance, upgrades, and system improvements.
- Support Linux servers and virtualised infrastructure platforms.
- Assist with datacentre operations, hardware installations, and infrastructure upgrades.
- Produce and maintain clear technical documentation.
- Participate in an out-of-hours support rota and planned maintenance activities.
- Contribute ideas and initiatives that enhance platform performance, reliability, and operational efficiency.

Essential Experience & Skills

- Hands-on experience with SIP and VoIP technologies.
- Strong analytical and fault-finding capabilities.
- Experience capturing and analysing packet traces (PCAPs).
- Solid understanding of IP networking principles.
- Linux administration experience.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively in high-pressure situations.
- Eagerness to learn and develop across new technologies.
- Full UK driving licence.
Desirable Experience & Skills
- Experience working within a datacentre environment.
- Knowledge of Session Border Controllers (SBCs), RTP, and voice traffic analysis.
- Exposure to hosted telephony or unified communications platforms.
- Understanding of virtualisation technologies.
- Experience with scripting or automation tools such as Bash, Python, or PowerShell.
- Previous experience within an MSP, telecoms provider, or technology services environment.
