Infrastructure Engineer – Cyber Essentials Contract

IP-People is recruiting an Infrastructure Engineer to help an established technology organisation clear a backlog of Cyber Essentials work across several IT environments.
This is a hands-on engineering assignment rather than a senior cyber consultancy or external assessor role. You’ll review each environment, identify and address any gaps, gather the required evidence and prepare it for certification by a third-party provider.

- Reviewing IT environments against Cyber Essentials requirements
- Gathering technical information and evidence
- Completing Cyber Essentials documentation and assessments
- Checking devices, accounts, permissions, patching and security configurations
- Reviewing Microsoft 365, Windows, endpoint protection, firewalls and networking
- Resolving straightforward compliance gaps
- Coordinating more complex remediation with senior engineers
- Liaising with technical teams and the external certification provider
- Managing multiple environments through to certification
We’re looking for:

- Experience as a 2nd Line, Infrastructure or Project Engineer
- Good knowledge of Microsoft 365, Windows and networking
- An understanding of Cyber Essentials and its core technical controls
- Strong troubleshooting and documentation skills
- The ability to work through multiple environments in an organised way
- Availability to start at short notice
Experience supporting Cyber Essentials assessments would be beneficial, but you don’t need to be an accredited assessor or senior cyber security specialist.
