Infrastructure Engineers - Lead and Senior – AutoSys & BMC Helix | Public Sector

We're looking for experienced Infrastructure Engineers, 1x senior-level and 1x lead, to support a major UK government department's critical IT infrastructure and operational platforms.

We have opportunities across two specialist areas: AutoSys Workload Automation and BMC Helix. Both roles are hands-on, technical positions focused on maintaining, supporting and optimising business-critical infrastructure services.

Security Clearance Requirements

Candidates for both roles must already hold Active SC Clearance to be considered for either opportunity, within a current or recently ended role. You will be requested to evidence this via UKSV before interview stage.

Role 1: Senior Infrastructure Engineer – AutoSys

Location: Newcastle - Hybrid up to 3 days onsite per week
Day Rate: Up to £350 – Inside IR35

Key responsibilities:

  • Support and administer the AutoSys Workload Automation platform.
  • Maintain and monitor enterprise batch scheduling services.
  • Investigate, troubleshoot and resolve technical incidents.
  • Carry out platform maintenance and operational support activities.
  • Ensure platform reliability, stability and service availability.
  • Participate in an out-of-hours on-call rota.

You MUST have:

  • Strong hands-on experience with AutoSys Workload Automation.
  • Experience supporting enterprise batch scheduling environments.
  • Strong incident management and troubleshooting capabilities.
  • Good understanding of infrastructure operations and platform maintenance.
  • Experience supporting business-critical IT systems.

Role 2: Lead Infrastructure Engineer – BMC Helix

Location: Manchester or Birmingham - hybrid 3 days onsite per week - some monthly travel to other locations may be required.
Day Rate: Up to £445 – Inside IR35

  • Support, maintain and optimise the BMC Helix platform suite.
  • Provide technical administration and support across:
    • BMC Helix Operations Manager (BHOM)
    • BMC Helix Capacity Optimisation (BHCO)
    • BMC Helix Discovery
  • Troubleshoot and resolve platform-related technical issues.
  • Improve platform performance, reliability and operational efficiency.
  • Support infrastructure monitoring, capacity management and discovery activities.
  • Collaborate with technical teams to maintain effective platform operations.

You MUST have:

  • Strong hands-on experience with BMC Helix platforms.
  • Technical knowledge of BHOM, BHCO and BMC Helix Discovery.
  • Experience maintaining and optimising enterprise infrastructure management platforms.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Understanding of infrastructure monitoring, capacity management and discovery.
  • Experience working within complex, large-scale IT environments.
