Infrastructure Engineer

Manchester (Hybrid)

3 Months / Up to £325/Day (Outside IR35)

Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Infrastructure Engineer with a strong background working within an MSP environment. In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining, optimizing, and securing hybrid infrastructures across multiple client environments. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to deliver high-availability networking, cloud services, and security solutions while working in an ITIL environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support, maintain, and upgrade client cloud and on-premises infrastructure, with a primary focus on Microsoft Azure.
  • Deploy, configure, and troubleshoot enterprise firewalls, networking protocols, and core routing/switching infrastructure.
  • Execute regular vulnerability scanning and risk management using Tenable Nessus.
  • Design, implement, and test robust Backup & Recovery Systems to ensure strict adherence to client RTO and RPO targets.
  • Implement and enforce cybersecurity best practices, managing network access and security controls across diverse environments.
  • Manage multiple tenant requests and incidents in accordance with ITIL incident, problem, and change management processes.
  • Serve as a technical point of escalation for complex technical queries and infrastructure projects.

Required Experience & Skills

  • MSP Background: Proven track record working within an MSP or consultancy environment.
  • Cloud & OS: Hands-on expertise with Microsoft Azure administration, architecture, and identity management.
  • Networking & Security: Deep knowledge of firewalls, VPNs, routing, switching, and general networking concepts.
  • Vulnerability Management: Experience conducting infrastructure scans and remediation using Tenable Nessus.
  • Data Protection: Hands-on experience with enterprise Backup & Recovery Systems (e.g., Veeam, Azure Backup).
  • Frameworks: Familiarity with ITIL processes and service management practices.
