Due to the sensitive nature of this role, you will be required to undergo DV (Developed Vetting) level Security Clearance (https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/united-kingdom-security-vetting-clearance-levels/national-security-vetting-clearance-levels). An allowance of £5k per annum may be payable monthly while you hold this DV and continue to work in a role that requires that level of security clearance. The terms of this allowance will be made available if you are successful in being recruited into this role.

About The Role
This is a rare opportunity to shape and operate the platforms that power critical services at scale. You’ll lead the design, build, and ongoing evolution of a next-generation private cloud built on VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF 9), enabling secure, resilient, and high-performance workloads for both internal teams and external customers.

As part of our platform modernisation journey, you’ll be at the forefront of transforming how we deliver cloud. You’ll help establish VMware Cloud Foundation as the standardised private cloud platform—driving consistency, scalability, and innovation across the organisation. This role is pivotal to our strategic ambitions: strengthening resilience, enhancing security, accelerating automation, and unlocking operational efficiency. Your expertise will help reduce risk, speed up delivery, and create a future-ready platform that can scale with evolving business and customer demands.
This job role is based in Ipswich. Due to security requirements, this role requires you to be located on site during your working hours. Mon-Fri 37.5. DV Security Clearance is required. Must have lived in UK for 10+ years to obtain clearance.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Architecting and delivering next-generation private cloud platforms using VMware Cloud Foundation
- Driving automation-first infrastructure through Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Ansible, PowerShell)
- Solving complex platform challenges across compute, storage, and networking
- Collaborating with engineers, architects, and operations teams to deliver seamless, end-to-end services
- Enhancing platform security, resilience, and performance at scale

- Strong experience across cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP, or VMware Cloud Foundation)
- Deep knowledge of VMware and enterprise virtualisation environments
- Solid grounding in infrastructure fundamentals (compute, storage, networking)
- Proven ability in automation and Infrastructure as Code
Desirable Experience
- Container platforms (Kubernetes, OpenShift, Docker)
- Networking, security, and identity management
- Linux/Windows system administration
- Encryption and certificate management (PKI, TLS/SSL)
