Engineering Team Leader — Infrastructure
City of London (hybrid, 3 days in office) | Permanent | £100,000 p.a.
A well-established investment bank in the City is looking for an Engineering Team Leader to run its Infrastructure Engineering team—someone who leads from the front, not just from a spreadsheet.
This is a genuinely hands-on leadership role. You'll be splitting your time between guiding and developing a mixed team of engineers (Windows, Linux, Comms, Desktop, Cloud) and staying technically active yourself—troubleshooting, implementing, patching, automating, and delivering project work alongside them. You'll triage and prioritise incoming work, coach and mentor the team, own contract and vendor relationships, and drive lifecycle management across the infrastructure estate.

You'll also be a key link between the Infrastructure Engineering team and DevOps, Cyber Security, Applications, and Networks, helping shape solutions that actually work for the business.
What they're looking for:
- 7+ years' hands-on infrastructure engineering experience across OS, virtualisation, storage, networking, cloud, endpoint, and collaboration platforms
- At least 2 years leading, mentoring, or coordinating engineers while staying hands-on
- Strong troubleshooting, implementation, patching, and lifecycle management experience
- Comfortable managing supplier relationships, contract renewals, and licence/cost optimisation
- Working knowledge of DevOps practices, CI/CD, IaC, and scripting (PowerShell, Terraform, Ansible, Git, SCCM or similar)
- Exposure to Active Directory, Entra ID, M365, AWS, Citrix, SAN, VMware, Windows Server, Linux, or Cisco UC
- Clear, confident communicator across technical and non-technical stakeholders
