Role: Infrastructure Manager
Rate: £500/day inside IR35 (via Umbrella)
Location: Edinburgh or London (twice/week onsite)
Start Date: ASAP
We’re supporting a major UK bank through a large-scale migration programme and are looking for an Infrastructure Manager to oversee the production platform used for data extraction. This is a broad infrastructure role, ensuring that the platform has the capacity and performance to support a significant increase in migration activity.
Key responsibilities:
- Managing platform capacity, performance, and operational risk across data extraction activity.
- Analysing usage trends, forecasting demand, and identifying potential resource contention.
- Working across virtualised infrastructure, Windows and Linux servers, storage, databases, and mainframe-connected services.
- Representing the platform in technical meetings, governance boards, and working groups.
- Challenging plans, escalating risks, and coordinating the right specialists when issues arise.
- Working with database specialists, application owners, and business teams to resolve issues and manage competing demands.

Required experience:

- Strong infrastructure capacity and performance management experience in banking or another regulated environment.
- Sound knowledge of VMware and virtual machines, with the ability to work confidently across several infrastructure domains.
- Experience turning performance data into clear forecasts, recommendations, and updates for stakeholders.
- Familiarity with ServiceNow and incident, problem, change, and configuration management.
- The confidence to challenge technical decisions and communicate effectively with both specialists and senior stakeholders.
