This role requires you to have lived in the UK for the last 5 years and obtain Security Check (SC) security clearance [https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/united-kingdom-security-vetting-clearance-levels/national-security-vetting-clearance-levels]. Clearance must be obtained without any caveats that prevent you from carrying out the role you’ve been recruited for. If it isn’t obtained, or is obtained but with caveats that prevent you from carrying out the role, any conditional offer made to you will be withdrawn. Obtaining SC security clearance can be a lengthy process, and we reserve the right to withdraw any conditional offer made if the necessary security clearance isn’t obtained within 12 months.
Job description
The Infrastructure Manager provides complete support to the Head of Establishment managing Ludgershall (Andover) and assisting at the Bicester site in all aspects of Infrastructure Management. Including managing and directing all new additional works services. Dealing with all areas of Future Defence Infrastructure Service contract site levels of service, liaising with contractors and customers to provide a continued and full level of service.
Successful candidates must be able to safely access all areas of the site which has uneven terrain, woodland and commuting across rail tracks. Whilst the role is not primarily physically demanding, it requires a suitable level of mobility, agility, and resilience to safely undertake inspection, assurance, and oversight activities.
About the role:
In this role, you will have the opportunity to:
- Ensure any identified risks or safety concerns are brought to the attention of the HoE
- Ensure all future requirements from identified from infrastructure works are captured in a forward-looking plan.
- Submission and progression of Statements of Need and Business Cases included within the 10 Year Plan.
- Report and record routine repairs to the helpdesk
- Record new works to Defence Infrastructure Organisation
- Liaise with Defence Infrastructure Organisation and contractors concerning works and queries as required
- Progress all infrastructure-related tasking with Defence Infrastructure Organisation and contractors, keeping relevant stakeholders updated as required
- Attend and represent the Head of Establishment (HoE) at regular meetings, as required
- Liaise with stakeholders as necessary
- Maintain online Estates & Facilities Management records for all tasks
- Engage in all aspects of the Future Defence Infrastructure (FDIS) Project as required
- Focal point for the site concerning problems/queries with infrastructure
- Maintain Demolitions List and other distinct infrastructure requirement records on behalf of the HoE
- Progression statutory and mandatory Infrastructure-related tasks.

We champion flexible ways of working. Regular in-person attendance is required of this position (expecting 1 day a week at Ludgershall (Andover), any travel to sites other than your Primary Duty Station will be subsidies). This is expected to be approximately 60% of your working week to promote the benefits of face-to-face collaboration alongside flexibility of hours to support work-life balance and business need. Initially, you may be expected to attend more frequently to familiarise yourselves with the site, the team, and your role.
What you’ll be doing
- Ensure compliance with all applicable legislation, policies, processes, and guidance at MoD and NAD group levels to deliver a safe environment, safe equipment, and protect personnel.
- Manage day-to-day maintenance requests and issues, assist with asset recording, business case drafts, and support the implementation of approved Infrastructure changes.
- Provide support and guidance to coordinate the effective management of safety, environmental protection and security within the team. Collaboratively, promote a culture that prioritises a safe and secure working environment by adopting legislative requirements and organisational policies that align with the organisation’s safety objectives.
- Demonstrate excellent safety behaviours by proactively identifying and escalating concerns, whilst equipping teams and individuals to take responsibility and act appropriately.
- Produce Infrastructure briefing packs, newsletters, and provide executive support communications.
- Plan Infrastructure events, coordinating with key staff to ensure all requirements are met.
- Engage with internal and external stakeholders, including site staff, contractors, and external agencies, across a range of real estate scenarios.
Person specification
To be successful with your application, you'll need to show that you meet the following essential criteria:
- Knowledge and experience of estates and facilities management
- Excellent written and verbal communicator
- Excellent and demonstrable IT skills particularly Microsoft Office
- Experience in stakeholder management
- Full UK Driving Licence
