Infrastructure Migration Engineer (VMware/VxRail to Hyper-V) Contract

  • Paying between £550 to £650 Per Day, Outside IR35, Based in Bristol, Remote Working, To Start ASAP

Your new role

We are seeking a Hyper-V Migration Specialist to join a major infrastructure transformation programme, supporting the migration of a large scale virtualised estate from VMware/VxRail to Microsoft Hyper-V.

This is a highly hands-on delivery role requiring an experienced infrastructure professional with proven expertise in live production VM migrations, Hyper-V clustering, and complex platform conversions. You will be embedded within the existing SysOps team, executing against an established migration plan and proof-of-concept findings, helping to ensure a smooth and low risk transition of critical services.

This is not a solution design or strategy position. The focus is on technical delivery, migration execution, troubleshooting, and knowledge transfer throughout the engagement.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the hands-on migration of development, test, and production virtual machines from VMware/VxRail environments to Microsoft Hyper-V
  • Execute phased migration waves while maintaining service continuity across live production environments
  • Convert remaining VxRail nodes into Hyper-V hosts, including workload evacuation, node rebuild, cluster integration and validation
  • Perform VM conversions and migrations using established V2V/P2V tooling and migration methodologies
  • Validate migration outcomes across compute, storage and networking layers
  • Troubleshoot complex issues relating to virtualisation, clustering, storage, connectivity and performance
  • Support production cutovers, go-live activities and rollback scenarios where required
  • Work closely with the SysOps team, providing continuous technical guidance and knowledge transfer
  • Contribute to the refinement of migration runbooks and operational documentation based on real-world execution findings
  • Ensure all migration activities align with agreed processes, governance and technical standards

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
