Location: Hybrid / Thorpe Park, Leeds

Position Title: Infrastructure Services Engineer

Job Type: Full-Time

Hours of Work: The role is based around normal office hours (9am – 5pm), Monday to Friday and will involve on call for some key systems. Option to work from 10am – 6pm Monday to Friday also available.

Job Summary

We have grown quickly, and globally, and the senior technical teams are very busy. We need to fill an immediate vacancy for an individual who can assist in keeping all of our core systems running. They will be one of a global technical team and their primary role will be looking after our data centre environments.

We are a very dynamic company, and all members of the technical team are expected to help out where they are capable, and this may involve aspects of customer deployment or even customer site visits if the need arose.

The ideal candidate will possess a wide range of technical skills and experience, but will have an appetite for learning and a desire to improve themselves and our environment that they work in.

Key Responsibilities

Duties may include, but are not restricted to the following:

  • VMware, Hyper V and Nutanix administration
  • Implementation of secure principals from the InfoSec team
  • Patching and updates for applications within the infrastructure
  • Administration and support of our Data Center Rubrik environment
  • Support and administration of our Zerto replication platform
  • Administration and configuration of our DC monitoring tools
  • Administration and configuration of our Linux / Windows servers
  • Assisting in the design of new company products, liaising with the Product Team to understand requirements and how they might work in our global infrastructure
  • Support of any other applications running on our core infrastructure
  • Working closely with various teams to ensure the systems are configured and working as expected
  • Administration of cloud platforms like Azure and/or AWS

Required Skills & Experience

The ideal candidate will be a bright and enthusiastic individual who is dedicated to achieving great results, they will ideally have cross section of the following job specific skills, attributes and experience:

  • Excellent attention to detail, with a desire to do a job correctly first time, every time.
  • A balanced approach to risk, ensuring we get tasks complete, even under pressure, but without unnecessary risk to live service.
  • A mature attitude to change, liaising with peers and forming robust backout plans before implementation.
  • Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills; tactful, diplomatic and sympathetic when dealing with any customer problems and showing empathy with customer issues.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Proactive and forward-thinking approach.
  • Confident with the ability to interact with members of all technical teams including team leaders, managers and directors.
  • Experience in troubleshooting technical problems in a methodical manner arriving promptly at a solid conclusion.
  • An eye for detail, preventing any tickets from breaching SLA’s and the tenacity to ensure others adhere to processes.
  • A willingness to learn and not be afraid to get involved in unfamiliar areas of technology.
  • Excellent time management / organisational skills; being able to work well in critical or high-pressure situations.

Desirable Technical Experience

Whilst we don’t expect you to be an expert in all areas, an interest and willingness to expand your technical knowledge in these areas is required. The successful candidate will already hold at least some experience in a few of the following areas (please indicate which)

  • Technical problem troubleshooting
  • Performance troubleshooting for compute, network or storage bottlenecks
  • A solid grasp of IP and subnetting
  • An understanding of network switching both physical and virtual.
  • Experience in an environment where security and network protection are key
  • Installation, configuration or administration of:
    • Windows Servers
    • Linux Servers
    • VMware ESX Servers
    • Hyper V
    • Nutanix
    • Azure and AWS Cloud environments
    • Monitoring platforms and SNMP
    • Data protection products

  • Self-motivated and comfortable working remotely
  • Strong communication skills for collaboration across regions and time zones
  • Proactive problem-solver with attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently while contributing effectively to a global team
