Infrastructure Specialist

Salary: £48,987 - £54,430
Location(s): Leeds and Manchester
Hours: Full time
Working Pattern: Hybrid, 40% (or two days) at one of the above office locations. Please note that participation in an on-call rota is also a requirement of this role.

What you'll be doing

Lloyds Banking Group is modernising through cloud technology, creating platforms that are secure, resilient and simpler for engineering teams to adopt and manage.

We're looking for a DevOps-focused Infrastructure Specialist to join our Private Cloud Platform team, partnering with Middleware domain experts across technologies such as IBM DataPower, IBM MQ, and WebSphere/Liberty.

You'll help design, build and improve the automated delivery capabilities used to deploy and manage middleware services. Working with experienced Middleware engineers, you'll turn technical requirements and operational practices into reliable pipelines, reusable automation and self-service workflows for business-aligned teams. This includes supporting lifecycle activities such as provisioning, configuration, upgrades, patching and routine operational change.

This is a hands-on, engineering role suited to someone with core DevOps experience who wants to broaden their skills across Middleware and hybrid Private Cloud platforms while delivering tangible automation results.

Day to day you'll

  • Work with middleware SMEs to turn technical requirements and operational practices into automated, reusable deployment and operational patterns.
  • Build and improve CI/CD pipelines, GitOps workflows, scripts and self-service tooling that make middleware delivery consistent, repeatable and easier for teams to consume.
  • Automate middleware lifecycle activities, including provisioning, configuration, testing, upgrades, patching and operational validation.
  • Collaborate with platform, product, application, security and supplier teams to deliver solutions, solve issues and continuously improve services.
  • Build secure, resilient and observable solutions using good testing, version control and documentation practices, while learning from experienced engineers across the team.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
