Location: Cambridge Working Model: Hybrid; 3 days a week onsite (must live within 1 hour of site) Role Type: Contract (12 months), opportunity for permanent conversion Hours: Full-time

The Role The Infrastructure Systems Administrator & Engineer will help us achieve our goals and deliver success on behalf of our customers by:

  • Providing Infrastructure's internal 2nd line support service. This is our “Front Door”.
  • Maintaining, securing & improving Featurespace's on-prem and cloud Infrastructure.
  • Scheduling & executing regular maintenance tasks.

Responsibilities As a company we hire people with a willingness to adapt to a variable role, so along with the key responsibilities below, we ask for ownership of any other duties as required.

  • Triaging 2nd line infrastructure support tickets, project requests
  • Monitoring, triaging & resolving infrastructure & application system issues
  • Scheduled & manual systems maintenance, support, monitoring, audit, and reporting (including backup management, vulnerability remediation, configuration management)
  • Standard infrastructure & application changes, commissioning & decommissioning
  • Secure data transfer management (supporting business-customer project work)
  • Delivering a quality service to exceed internal SLA & target Customer Satisfaction levels
  • Working occasional Out of Hours to deliver critical maintenance
  • Proactive service improvement projects

Minimum Skills & Experience Extensive & wide-ranging experience with:

  • AD, Azure, MS365 suite, Hyper-V, RDS, AWS, MFA, SSO, Identity & Access Management.
  • Incident, change & problem management (incl. 3rd parties).
  • Process-driven ITSM tooling (Jira, ServiceNow or similar).
  • Backup technologies i.e. Veeam (local, Azure, AWS).
  • Data Centre monitoring & out-of-band hardware management.
  • OS & Application patching tools.
  • Structured troubleshooting methodologies.
  • Enterprise Microsoft systems installation, troubleshooting & maintenance.
  • Powershell, VB etc.

Good familiarity with:

  • Linux operating systems (i.e. Ubuntu, CentOS, RHEL, Alma).
  • Ansible, Python etc.
  • Experience within a compliance-driven, audited environment.

Preferred Skills & Experience Enterprise Storage technologies SAN, NAS (QSAN, DELL). LAN / WiFi & TCP/IP network troubleshooting. Familiarity of DevOps practices / CICD pipelines. Disaster Recovery / BCP test execution. Other virtualisation platforms such as OpenStack, VMWare etc.

Other Favourable Qualities Demonstrable, diverse systems administration experience. A natural and positive tendency to "apply lessons-learned". Technically proficient, personable, positively pragmatic. Detailed, focussed, process-orientated. Emotionally intelligent; owning and delivering solutions, escalating appropriately. Eager to improve the environment, yourself, and the team.
