We are excited to offer a fantastic opportunity for an Infrastructure Technician/Engineer to join one of Amey's most successful and high-profile contracts, delivering secure IT services to a major UK Central Government department in Whitehall, London.
You will play a key role in supporting and enhancing a complex physical network and Microsoft Windows environment that underpins critical government services. Working alongside our Senior Infrastructure Engineer and Senior IT Technician, you will help maintain a secure, resilient and high-performing IT estate while contributing to innovative technology improvements that deliver real operational value.

What You Will Do
- Manage and support critical IT infrastructure including servers, networks, storage platforms, and virtualisation technologies.
- Monitor, maintain, and optimise systems and cloud services to ensure maximum availability and performance.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex infrastructure incidents, working collaboratively with internal teams and third-party suppliers.
- Deliver infrastructure projects, including network improvements, technology upgrades, and cloud-based solutions.
- Contribute to infrastructure strategy, disaster recovery planning, and the continuous improvement of operational processes.
- Support security compliance by implementing controls, conducting risk assessments, and maintaining robust security standards.
What You Will Bring
- Strong technical knowledge of LAN, WAN, and TCP/IP networking environments.
- Experience supporting Microsoft technologies including Active Directory, Group Policy, Hyper-V, Microsoft 365, Azure, and Windows Server 2019+.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server maintenance and mainstream backup solutions.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills with the ability to work effectively across technical and non-technical teams.
- Proactive, collaborative, and adaptable approach with a passion for continuous improvement and innovation.
- Ability to support 2nd and 3rd line infrastructure incidents within a secure operational environment.

Essential Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related discipline.
- Practical experience supporting enterprise IT infrastructure and security best practices.
- Experience maintaining and upgrading complex network and server environments.
Desirable
- Master's degree in a relevant discipline.
- Relevant Microsoft, networking, cloud, or infrastructure certifications.
- Experience within highly regulated or secure environments.

Due to the nature of this role and the customer environment, the successful candidate will be required to obtain and maintain Developed Vetting (DV) Security Clearance. Existing DV clearance is not required to apply; however, candidates must be eligible and willing to undergo the clearance process.
