AYES, a multinational engineering and technology consultancy, is looking for an experienced Fuel System Engineer to join an exciting project within the Aerospace & Defence sector, based in Bristol, UK.
We operate globally across Automotive, Industrial Automation, Aerospace & Defence, Rail, Energy, Oil & Gas, Life Sciences and Telecommunications, supporting our clients throughout the entire product lifecycle — from concept and design through to development, validation and industrialisation.
For this opportunity, we are looking for an experienced engineer with a strong background in aerospace fuel systems, who is motivated by working on complex aircraft systems within a highly technical and international environment.
The Role
As a Fuel System Engineer, you will contribute to the development, integration and verification of fuel systems for aerospace and defence applications. You will work across a multidisciplinary engineering environment, collaborating closely with Systems, Mechanical, Design, Manufacturing and Verification & Validation teams. The role involves understanding system requirements, supporting the development and integration of fuel system components, and contributing to the technical resolution of complex engineering challenges throughout the product lifecycle.
You will have the opportunity to work on systems responsible for the storage, transfer and management of fuel within an aircraft, with a particular focus on system integration, performance, reliability and safety.

Key Responsibilities
- Analyse and support the definition of fuel system requirements and specifications
- Support the development and integration of aircraft fuel systems and associated components
- Work with fuel lines, tubes, ducts, valves, fittings and other fluid system components
- Support the integration of fuel systems with other aircraft systems and structures
- Perform and support engineering analyses related to fluid flow, pressure, performance and system behaviour
- Contribute to system verification, validation and qualification activities
- Review technical documentation, drawings, specifications and engineering requirements
- Work closely with Mechanical, Systems, Manufacturing and Test & Validation teams to resolve technical issues
- Support root-cause analysis and the resolution of engineering problems and non-conformities
- Participate in technical reviews and project meetings with international engineering teams
- Prepare and maintain technical documentation throughout the project lifecycle
Requirements
- Master’s degree in Aerospace Engineering, Aeronautical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline
- Approximately 5 years of professional experience within the Aerospace industry
- Proven experience in Fuel Systems, Fluid Systems, Hydraulic Systems or Aircraft Systems
- Good understanding of fluid mechanics, pressure and flow systems, and fluid management
- Experience working with engineering requirements, technical specifications and design documentation
- Experience with Verification & Validation activities
- Ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary and international engineering teams
- Strong written and spoken English communication skills

Nice to Have
- Direct experience with aircraft fuel systems
- Experience with fuel system installation and integration
- Knowledge of fuel tubes, ducts, piping, valves and fittings
- Experience with hydraulic or pneumatic systems in an aerospace environment
- Experience with testing, qualification or certification activities
- Knowledge of CATIA V5/V6 or other aerospace CAD tools
- Familiarity with aerospace certification, airworthiness or relevant industry standards
- Previous experience within an OEM, Tier 1 supplier or engineering consultancy
