About the role

We're looking for an Innovation Delivery Lead for a portfolio of projects focused on improving the safety, reliability and performance of the gas transmission network. You'll work with teams across National Gas and external partners to take projects from concept through to implementation.

Innovation is critical to maintaining a safe and reliable network. In this role, you'll identify and deliver solutions that address key operational and engineering challenges, helping shape future standards, investment decisions and ways of working across National Gas.

What you'll be doing

  • Leading the Safety & Integrity innovation portfolio.
  • Managing projects from concept through to implementation.
  • Working across the business to identify key issues and develop solutions.
  • Developing business cases and funding submissions.
  • Working closely with internal stakeholders, suppliers and industry partners.
  • Managing project budgets, risks, governance and reporting.

What you'll bring

Essential

  • Experience leading complex projects, programmes or portfolios within engineering, infrastructure, utilities or asset management.
  • Ability to work autonomously, manage competing priorities, and take ownership for delivery with minimal supervision.
  • Natural curiosity and a proactive approach to investigating problems and identifying effective solutions.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills, with experience influencing senior leaders, technical specialists, suppliers and external partners.
  • Proven experience managing project scope, budgets, risks, governance and delivery.
  • Ability to interpret technical, commercial and operational information and use an analytical approach to develop practical solutions and quantify benefits.
  • Degree qualification in a relevant discipline, or equivalent industry experience.

Desirable

  • Experience within gas, energy, utilities or other safety-critical industries.
  • Knowledge of innovation funding mechanisms such as NIA, SIF, UKRI or Innovate UK.
  • Understanding of asset integrity, engineering assurance, risk management or network operations.
  • Experience implementing new technologies, engineering solutions or operational improvements.
  • Experience developing business cases, funding proposals or investment recommendations to secure project approval.
