Innovation Intern
Duration: 6 months
Location: London / Hybrid
Introduction
Sirio (BCorp™️, Great Place to Work™️), a specialist consulting firm focused on the energy system, is looking for a driven and resourceful Innovation Intern to join its growing team for a six-month placement.
The intern will work closely with the team on the development and commercialisation of a real-world innovation product across the energy, utilities, and public sectors. They will play an active role in shaping its trajectory, with the opportunity to take ownership of research and defined workstreams across market assessment, product development, prototyping, and commercialisation.
Alongside this core work, the intern may contribute to wider company innovation projects, as well as internal initiatives, providing exposure to different areas of a fast-growing consulting business.

Job Description
As an Innovation Intern, you will:
- Support the development and commercialisation of an innovation product, including its go-to-market strategy, positioning, business model, and routes to market.
- Conduct in-depth research into emerging technologies, market trends, sector use cases, potential customers, and the competitive landscape related to the product.
- Contribute to the definition and refinement of product functionality based on market research, customer needs, and commercial opportunities.
- Support prototype development and iteration, including the use of AI-enabled development tools where appropriate.
- Analyse qualitative and quantitative information and translate findings into clear recommendations, reports, PowerPoint presentations, and other internal or external deliverables.
- Gain exposure to how an innovation progresses from an initial concept and prototype towards a scalable commercial product.
- Contribute to wider Sirio projects, business development activities, and strategic initiatives where required.
- Support ad hoc operational and administrative activities across the organisation, balancing these responsibilities alongside the core innovation work.

Qualifications
We are looking for a current student, recent graduate, or early-career candidate characterised by the following:
Technical Skills
- Advanced Microsoft PowerPoint, Word, and Excel skills are essential.
- Strong research and analytical skills, including the ability to work with both qualitative and quantitative information.
- Strong written communication and presentation skills, with the ability to translate research into clear recommendations and deliverables.
- Confidence using AI tools to support research, analysis, and day-to-day work.
- Experience using AI-enabled development tools, such as Claude Code or similar, to support prototype development and iteration would be advantageous.
- Programming (e.g., R, Python, VBA, Microsoft Power Platform) knowledge and/or experience would be advantageous.
- Understanding of, or strong interest in, product development, innovation, and commercialisation.

- Able to work independently, take ownership of defined workstreams, and shape recommendations rather than simply execute instructions.

- Strong time management and organisational skills, with the ability to balance strategic project work with wider business and administrative priorities.
- Comfortable working in an environment where priorities and responsibilities may evolve.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Genuine and demonstrable interest in the energy sector, technology, and decarbonisation.

Qualifications
- Degree qualified or currently completing a degree, with a preference for backgrounds in Business / Management / Economics / Engineering / Energy Systems / Sustainability / Computer Science / Data Science / or similar fields.
- Strong verbal and written English.
- The right to work in the UK. This role is not eligible for sponsorship.

This is a fully paid internship, with pay aligned to the London Living Wage.
