Our London-based Innovation Lab spans electronics engineering (PCB fabrication and assembly), industrial design and manufacture (3D printing, CNC machining and laser cutting) and product development. It is a collaborative environment where technical experimentation and rapid iteration are encouraged, and where the team works closely with founders and product teams to build and test cutting-edge technology for real-world applications.
Role Description
The Innovation Laboratory Technician is a full-time, on-site role based at the Fiddlie Innovation Lab in London. You will keep the lab running smoothly and support our designers and engineers with prototyping and small-batch production of prototypes.

- Set up and run 3D prints for designers
- Finish parts through sanding, priming, and spray painting
- Assemble prototypes
- Support engineers with PCB assembly (including SMD soldering and rework)
- Help with testing and quality control checks to ensure prototypes meet safety and performance standards
You will also:
- Maintain, calibrate, and troubleshoot lab equipment
- Manage the component inventory in Partsbox
- Source parts from suppliers such as Digi-Key, Farnell, and RS Components
- Keep the asset register up to date
- Keep the lab organized and safe in line with health and safety guidelines
Qualifications
- Practical experience as a laboratory technician or in a similar technical support role within an R&D, innovation, prototyping, or fabrication lab.
- Confidence operating, maintaining, and troubleshooting lab equipment, including 3D printers, CNC machines, laser cutters, and PCB assembly equipment.
- Hands-on electronics skills, including soldering, and familiarity with electronic components and common suppliers.
- Strong organizational skills, with experience managing stock and using inventory software such as Partsbox.
- Ability to follow detailed instructions, keep accurate records, interpret test results, and identify technical issues in prototypes.
- A strong commitment to health and safety, including safe handling of materials, and the ability to work well in a multidisciplinary team.

Beneficial:
- A diploma or degree in engineering, physical sciences, or a related field
- Experience with finishing techniques such as sanding and spray painting
- PCB design (e.g., KiCad, Altium) or CNC/CAM software
- Familiarity with wearables or hardware prototyping
Compensation and Benefits
- Salary: £30,000 per annum
