The University of Surrey is a global community of ideas and people, dedicated to life-changing education and research.

We are ambitious and have a bold vision of what we want to achieve - shaping ourselves into one of the best universities in the world, which we are achieving through the talents and endeavour of every employee.

Our culture empowers people to achieve this aim and to collectively, and individually, make a real difference.

The role

We are looking for an Innovation Manager – Business Engagement to help grow and embed knowledge exchange activity across the University, supporting academics and business partners to turn research strengths into real-world benefit. This is a full time fixed-term role until July 2027.

Working within Research, Innovation and Impact, you will build productive relationships between the University and businesses, particularly SMEs, helping to identify opportunities for collaboration, funding and impact. You will play an important role in supporting the University’s innovation ambitions by connecting researchers with external organisations, developing business-led projects and helping to deliver outcomes that contribute to research impact and knowledge exchange.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
