Job Description

As part of Lear’s EU & Africa Advanced Manufacturing & Engineering team, you will drive innovation projects within the regional Innovation Hub, transforming emerging technologies into practical solutions that improve manufacturing efficiency, quality, and productivity. This role combines hands-on engineering, project leadership, and collaboration across manufacturing, logistics, quality, and IT functions to deliver Industry 4.0 initiatives from concept through deployment.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the planning, execution, and delivery of innovation projects across the EMEA region, ensuring alignment with timelines, budgets, and technical requirements.
  • Manage project resources, including personnel, equipment, and budgets, to maximize project effectiveness and efficiency.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to transition innovative solutions from development to successful implementation.
  • Design, develop, and validate prototypes and proof-of-concept solutions before scaling them across the business.
  • Identify, evaluate, and apply emerging technologies such as AI, robotics, IoT, digitalization, and AR/VR to manufacturing challenges.
  • Ensure all solutions comply with company standards, industry regulations, security requirements, and intellectual property guidelines.
  • Communicate project progress, risks, outcomes, and recommendations to senior leadership and key stakeholders.
  • Build and maintain partnerships with universities, research institutions, suppliers, and external technology providers to support innovation initiatives.

Experience Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in manufacturing innovation, advanced manufacturing, automation, or related engineering environments.
  • Strong project management experience leading complex innovation, research, or technology deployment projects from concept to completion.
  • Hands-on expertise in at least one of the following areas: robotics and automation, data and digitalization, digital twins, or artificial intelligence.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Technology, or a related field, or equivalent experience; Master’s, EngD, or PhD preferred.
  • Strong analytical thinking, business acumen, stakeholder management, and communication skills, with fluency in written and spoken English.
