PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Reviews and processes departmental order requests.
  • Prepares medications for distribution to the patient care units.
  • Distributes medications to the patient care units.
  • Orders medications from various suppliers.
  • Prepares parenteral products.
  • Maintains the medication inventory, place orders in stock, check expiration dates, process returns as needed.
  • Trains and orients new pharmacy support personnel.
  • Billing and other pharmacy duties that do not require a pharmacist.
  • Maintains appropriate records and regulatory documentation.
  • Pre-packaging and labeling of bulk medications to unit dosed containers/packaging.
  • Answers telephone directing phone calls appropriately and diverts all medication/clinical inquiries to the Pharmacist.
  • Consistently provides service excellence to all patients, family members, visitors, volunteers, and coworkers.
  • Maintains cleanliness of the department
  • Performs other work-related duties as assigned.

Inpatient Nationally Certified Pharmacy Technician – Grade FHS7A, Job Code 00024

  • Ability to read, write, and communicate in English.
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Massachusetts state registration as a Pharmacy Technician.
  • Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) certification or equivalent certification.
  • One-year recent experience (within the past 3 years) as a Pharmacy Technician; 3 years preferred, OR PTCB certification or equivalent certification as an Inpatient Pharmacy Technician Trainee.
  • Duties require very good verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
