Our client and expanding Engineering Business is looking for an Inside Sales Manager to take the team to the next level. You will have experience of Sales Leadership within a technical / Engineering environment.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop the team
    • Manage, coach, and mentor five Inside Sales Representatives and three Sales Order Administrators
  • Set and monitor KPIs to keep communications and orders handled promptly, accurately, and to a high standard
  • Plan and prioritise team workloads to hit deadlines and service level targets
  • Partner with the Sales Director on team structure, training, and workload forecasting
  • Build an open, motivated team culture grounded in clear communication and collaboration
  • Own the sales order process
    • Manage orders end-to-end, from quotation through to delivery, with accuracy and proactive customer communication throughout
  • Track and improve performance across response times, quote progression, order backlog, and scheduled orders/call-offs
  • Handle the detail of non-UK sales, including shipping terms for European and overseas orders
  • Act as the connective tissue between Sales, Engineering, and Operations on technical order details and specifications
  • Support customers and the sales team
    • Equip the sales team with accurate, timely product, pricing, and order status information
  • Resolve escalated customer enquiries and complaints professionally and decisively
  • Build lasting customer relationships that drive satisfaction, loyalty, and retention
  • Improve and report
    • Monitor and improve telephone KPIs — missed calls, handling times, responsiveness
  • Identify and implement process improvements that boost accuracy and efficiency
  • Produce regular performance reports with clear, actionable insights

  • Proven experience as an Inside Sales Manager in a B2B, technical, or engineering-led environment
  • Strong grasp of sales administration and order management, from quotation to fulfilment
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills, with sound judgement and decision-making
  • Solid technical understanding of sales engineering principles, product specs, and documentation
  • A proactive, quality-driven approach with a genuine commitment to customer service
  • Hands-on ERP experience, ideally with Microsoft Dynamics Business Central
  • Strong IT literacy across Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word) and CRM/ERP systems
