We are seeking an Insight Analyst to join Primark’s Applied Insights & Analytics team, transforming data and reporting into actionable recommendations that support better business decisions. Working closely with stakeholders across Trading, Buying & Merchandising, Supply Chain, Retail Operations, Finance, and Customer teams, you will use data, reporting tools, and insight applications to identify opportunities, answer key business questions, and drive measurable commercial value.

The ideal candidate will be commercially minded, data-driven, and skilled at translating complex analysis into clear, compelling insights that inform action.

Job Description

What you'll do

  • Insight Delivery & Analysis: Support the delivery of insight and analytics requests from business question through to recommendation, helping stakeholders make informed commercial decisions.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Partner with Business Partners and commercial teams to understand requirements, frame business questions, and identify the most appropriate data and insight sources.
  • Data Analysis & Interpretation: Use SQL, insight applications, and reporting tools to analyse data, uncover trends, and provide actionable insights across trading, customer, and operational functions.
  • Storytelling & Communication: Translate complex analytical outputs into clear, compelling narratives and recommendations that are easily understood by non-technical audiences.
  • Reporting & Visualisation: Develop and maintain dashboards, scorecards, and reporting packs that deliver consistent, trusted, and actionable business insights.
  • Business Performance Support: Contribute to stakeholder updates, commercial reviews, and decision-support materials that drive action, improve performance, and support strategic decision-making.
  • Continuous Improvement & Collaboration: Work closely with analysts, Business Partners, Data Engineers, and Data Scientists to improve reporting, enhance data quality, and deliver impactful, joined-up analytics solutions.

What you'll bring

  • Analytics & Insights Experience: Experience in an analyst, insight, reporting, or commercial analytics role, ideally within retail, FMCG, grocery, apparel, or another fast-paced consumer-focused environment.
  • SQL & Data Analysis Skills: Strong SQL skills with the ability to query, join, and interpret datasets confidently, using data to answer business questions and support decision-making.
  • Reporting & Visualisation Tools: Experience using Power BI, Tableau, or similar reporting and analytics platforms to create dashboards, scorecards, and actionable business insights.
  • Commercial Acumen & KPI Understanding: Strong commercial awareness with the ability to connect analysis to sales, margin, stock, customer, and operational performance, supported by a solid understanding of KPI frameworks and performance measurement.
  • Data Storytelling & Communication: Ability to translate complex analytical findings into clear, compelling narratives, visualisations, and recommendations for non-technical stakeholders.
  • Stakeholder Management & Commercial Partnering: Proven ability to collaborate with stakeholders, challenge assumptions constructively, shape analytical requirements, and deliver insight that drives measurable business outcomes.
  • Continuous Improvement & Value Delivery: Experience improving reporting, simplifying processes, and identifying opportunities that support sales growth, margin improvement, operational efficiency, and better business decision-making.
