New Role: Analytical Insights Developer
We are building a new central Insights team, and a new data platform on Microsoft Fabric underneath it. This role is the analytical heart of that team.
Where our Senior Power BI Developer owns the certified semantic layer, you will use it and other data to answer the questions the business is asking, digging into why the numbers look the way they do, and turning that into something people can act on.
You will work with colleagues across the organisation, from hub operations and property through to finance, strategy and marketing. Much of the work will start as a conversation rather than a specification, so a good part of the job is working out what someone really needs before deciding what to build.
This is an early-maturity environment - some of what you produce will be the first time anyone at Cash Access UK has looked at a question in-depth.
You will not be maintaining someone else’s reporting suite, and you will have room to develop technically alongside experienced colleagues.
Essential
- Experience in a role with a substantial analytical component, where you have used data to answer business questions rather than produce routine reporting.
- Strong numeracy and structured problem solving - able to take a broad or vaguely worded question, break it down, and explain the logic behind your approach.
- Working SQL skills, with experience querying an analytical data warehouse or equivalent central data source directly, rather than depending on extracts prepared by someone else.
- Practical experience building reporting or dashboards in a BI tool that other people rely on, such as Power BI, Tableau, Qlik or Looker.
- Confident working directly with colleagues who are not data specialists, including asking the questions needed to understand a request properly.
- At least one concrete example of analysis you produced that changed a decision or an action.
- Careful with detail, and in the habit of checking your own work before it goes out.
- Comfortable working where process is not yet established and organised enough to run several pieces of work at once.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Desirable
- Power BI development, including DAX and Power Query.
- Exposure to Microsoft Fabric.
- Experience with demographic, geographic or location data, or with survey and market research data.
- Operational, workforce or customer analytics in a service delivery environment.
- Python, R or a similar language used for analysis.
Analysis
- Take business questions from initial conversation through to a clear answer, including scoping what is being asked and what would count as a useful result.
- Run ad-hoc analysis across hub performance, customer usage, operational and corporate data to explain what is happening and what is driving it.
- Bring in external data where it helps, including demographic and location data and brand and customer research.
- Present findings so that a non-technical audience can follow the reasoning and act on it, both in writing and in person.
- Say what you think the data means, including where the evidence is thin or the answer is inconvenient.
Working with the business

Get help with your application
Your very own career expert that helps elevate your application to the next level.
- Act as a regular point of contact for nominated business areas, building enough understanding of how they work to be useful without being briefed from scratch each time.
- Challenge requests where the underlying question is different from the one being asked.
- Log incoming demand through the team’s prioritisation process and keep people updated where work is queued or scoped differently from what they expected.
Reporting and data products
- Build reports and dashboards on certified semantic models, applying the team’s design and usability standards.
- Produce exploratory and one-off analysis where a permanent report is not the right answer.
- Work with the Senior Power BI Developer to move reporting into the certified estate once it becomes business critical.
Data quality and definitions
- Identify data quality issues during analysis, log them, and work with the data engineering team on resolution.
- Work to agreed metric definitions, and flag clearly where a definition is missing, ambiguous or applied inconsistently between teams.
- Document your analysis so that someone else can follow the method and repeat it.
Benefits
- A permanent, remote-first role with travel to London currently around one day per week, paid for.
- Salary up to £50,000 depending on experience, plus a discretionary company bonus of up to 20%.
- A small team being built from scratch, where your work is visible at all levels of the business.
- Work with a clear social purpose, keeping cash and face-to-face banking available to the communities that still depend on them.
