About the Role
We are seeking a full-time trainee administrator to join our hard-working, small, and friendly insolvency & turnaround team based in Newbury town centre. We operate in the professional services sector alongside lawyers and accountants. In this role, you will have the opportunity to develop many office-based skills and technical knowledge specific to our sector.
This is a varied and interesting administrative role in which the right candidate will develop excellent administrative and technical skills, which will provide a strong foundation upon which to build your future. We will invest time in your development, enabling you to learn and grow the role. The limit of your development will be dictated by your commitment and ability.
Initial Key Tasks
- Reception duties, answering the telephone, helping callers, and greeting visitors
- Creating and maintaining client databases
- All areas of post room duties, including opening and sending post
- Creating letters and documents using in-house standards
- File management
- Administering and updating the firm's time and disbursement accounts
- Client-related administrative duties
- Day-to-day in-house administrative duties
- Gaining industry technical knowledge used in your day-to-day role
Developing Role
- Creating original letters and documents
- Report drafting/writing
- Meeting and dealing directly with clients, their staff, and our contacts
- Engaging and instructing solicitors, accountants, surveyors, and agents
- Liaising with key contracts to progress client work
- Assisting our practice administrator and investigator
- Dealing with client HR matters
- Assignment of your own portfolio of clients

Future Prospects
Your development will be dictated by your ability and commitment. We will consider supporting a business administration apprenticeship if sought. We hope that your development will enable you to move on to the greater technical role of a client executive, with a longer-term view to sitting professional insolvency courses and qualifications, which will enable you to build a long-term career in the sector.
Employer Description
We are a boutique insolvency and turnaround specialist with a high level of sector expertise who focus primarily on corporate clients and conduct a small amount of bespoke personal insolvency solutions. Our clients are small to medium-sized businesses and individuals with financial difficulties and in need of specialist services prescribed by UK insolvency legislation. Our services are tailored to meet the clients’ requirements.
Dependent upon the demands of our clients, no two consecutive days tend to be the same, and this can make for an interesting week in the office.
Our director is a licensed and practicing insolvency practitioner with over 35 years in the industry and is looking to train a new generation in this industry. We are a small, friendly team of 5-6 staff and are based in Newbury town centre.

Desired Skills
We are looking for someone who:
- Wants to work in a busy and demanding office and who thrives under pressure
- Has advantageous previous office experience
- Is able to type accurately
- Has an understanding of Word, Excel, Adobe, and Microsoft Office
- Has good numeracy and handwriting
- Is looking to develop or build on their strong communication skills
- Understands the importance of systems and structure
Skills Required
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office
- Attention to detail
- Organised with a positive approach
- Hungry to learn and develop
- Good command of English (verbal & written) and numeracy
- Wants to work in a ‘professional’ office environment
Qualifications Required
5 GCSE's (or equivalent) at Grade 5 or higher, to include Maths and English
Personal Qualities
We are seeking to develop a team player who is keen to learn and grow the role within the team.
Training
Training to be Provided - On-the-job training will be provided to meet the requirements of the technical requirements of the role.
Interview Process
The interview will include a number of short tests to establish your basic skills. These may include:
- Typing test (speed and accuracy)
- Arithmetic test
- Handwriting assessment
- Computer knowledge
- Comprehension test
