Overview

OSI Electronics, UK is based in St Neots, Cambridgeshire. From design, prototype, and PCB assembly to volume box builds, we make electronic products for UK and overseas markets. Being electronics specialists, providing the highest quality, reliability, on-time deliveries, and customer support in UK electronics manufacturing. We focus on end-to-end electronic device manufacturing, customisable to meet the individual requirements of UK and International companies and Original Equipment Manufacturers.

Role Overview

The Inspector will perform inspection of printed circuit boards (PCBs) during the SMT stage of the manufacturing process, with reference to IPC standards as well as specific customer instruction.

Responsibilities

  • Operates within the factory shop floor, providing 1st off inspection, direct batch inspection, sample inspection and process verification for the assembly of electronics both by machine and hand.
  • A disciplined approach ensuring all assemblies are built to drawing and the required workmanship standards in an efficient and quality focused manner.
  • To develop strong, effective relationships with the individual production team members to ensure that our ‘right first time’ and lean manufacturing principles are applied.
  • Ensure all assembly work is undertaken to the appropriate build standard by reference to supplied build packs (BOMS and Drawings) ensuring relevant workmanship standard (IPC-610A or customer specified equivalent) are maintained.
  • Ensure all production processes are followed at all times.
  • Provide feedback to production operators of any identified issues or rework.
  • Ensure all rework is completed to the required standard.
  • Minimise rework by ensuring all operators are aware of any issues that arise during the production processes and help identify and feedback to supervisors where further training is required.
  • Escalate any identified trends to engineering / QA and promote a strong ‘right first time’ policy.

  • Electronics manufacturing. Essential
  • Experience in direct inspection. Desirable
  • Ideally inspection experience with reference to workmanship standards such as IPC610A.
