Working with us you will share our ambition for our communities and join us in delivering a service which supports these ambitions and the priorities of the Council. As part of our team, you will be working with a variety of partners, customers and clients ensuring the delivery of a high-quality professional service that maximises the resources available, delivers positive outcomes and meets the needs of customers and service users.

The post is both challenging and varied, involving inspections and contract monitoring. To be a success you will have extended knowledge of a wide variety of roads construction methods. You will make frequent use of your highly developed record keeping skills. The team regularly delivers a demanding programme of improvement and maintenance works; only possible through strong teamwork. Whilst you will work independently much of the time on routine inspections and sites, you will require to work in harmony with the rest of the team.

Key Requirements:

  • Extended relevant working experience
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office packages
  • Ability to work under pressure
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Knowledge of the Roads and Transportation system ‘Confirm’ and the Scottish Roads Works Register is desirable
  • HNC or equivalent (SVQ3 or City & Guilds Level 4) in a relevant subject, or willingness to work towards within a specified timescale
  • Current driving licence

Work Pattern:

  • 35 hours per week
  • Monday - Thursday: 08:45 - 16:45 (including a 55 minute unpaid break)
  • Friday: 08:45 - 16:15 (including a 50 minute unpaid break)

Reporting Base:

  • Station House, Bellshill
  • Operational area within North Lanarkshire

Casual/Sessional Roles: For all casual/sessional roles, you will receive 12.1% of your hourly rate for every hour worked in total recompense for annual leave, including public holidays. These rates will be indicated separately on your payslip. You will only be paid for the hours that you work.
