Installation Engineer – Access Control & Biometric Systems
Location: London (Field-Based)
Salary: £40,000 + Benefits
Job Type: Permanent, Full-Time
Applause IT are recruiting for an Installation Engineer – Access Control & Biometric Systems to join a growing technology business delivering digital identity, biometric access control and workforce management solutions across some of the UK's largest construction and infrastructure projects.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Installation Engineer with a background in access control, electronic security, CCTV, fire & security or similar technology installations to work with innovative biometric systems that improve site security, workforce compliance and operational efficiency.

The Role
As an Installation Engineer you will be responsible for installing, commissioning and supporting advanced access control solutions at customer sites across London and the surrounding region.
Working as part of a specialist engineering team, you will deliver high-quality installations while ensuring systems are configured, tested and operating to the highest standards.

Key responsibilities include:
- Installing and commissioning biometric access control and workforce management systems
- Configuring and testing turnstile access systems, facial recognition readers and associated hardware
- Carrying out routine maintenance and reactive service visits
- Diagnosing and resolving electrical and electronic faults
- Providing technical support to customers and project stakeholders
- Ensuring all installations are completed safely, efficiently and to a consistently high standard
- Accurately recording installation activity and service reports
- Travelling to customer sites across London with occasional overnight stays where required
About You
We're looking for an Installation Engineer who enjoys working in the field and takes pride in delivering excellent customer service.
You'll ideally have experience installing or maintaining technologies such as:
- Access Control Systems
- Electronic Security Systems
- CCTV
- Fire & Security Systems
- Door Entry Systems
- Data Networks
- Structured Cabling
- Other electrical or electronic installation equipment

You will also have:
- Previous experience in a field-based installation or service engineering role
- Strong electrical or electronic fault-finding skills
- Excellent customer-facing communication skills
- A proactive approach to problem solving
- Full UK driving licence
- CSCS and/or SSSTS accreditation
- Willingness to undergo a DBS check
