JLA is driven by a world class Sales & Marketing engine, owns and maintains all assets, and has an efficient on-site operations team working with daily with customers.
Role overview
The Installations & Deliveries director will be accountable for processing and delivery of all new business orders across Total Care, Machine Sales, Vend Share and Service Contracts across JLA’s Laundry and Catering business lines in the UK. In this role, you will be our technical authority across Laundry & Catering installations processes, providing expert guidance on installations, specifications and customer solutions. Working closely with Sales, Product, L&C Field Operations and senior leadership teams, you will help deliver solutions for installation projects that minimise time to deliver and maximise On Time In Full delivery.
This role is critical to achieving JLA’s growth objectives, being responsible for ensuring all new orders are processed and delivered in a timely manner and to the highest quality, enabling our continued growth.
You will lead c.50 colleagues including office-based installation coordinators and field based project managers and installers, as well as managing a network of subcontractors. You will be responsible for driving operational excellence both in order processing and the quality of technical installations.
You will support our commercial teams in providing technical installation solutions for our customer requirements, ensuring that all new orders can be delivered and our annual growth objectives achieved.
The role holder is likely to have a technical background, with the credibility to lead a team of field based installers, whilst also having a good understanding of operational processes and operational excellence.

Key Accountabilities
- Full accountability for delivering new customer orders, including new order processing and delivery of installations.
- Lead teams to: Achieve order processing and installation KPIs including time to deliver and weekly / monthly delivery objectives.
- Efficiently plan and schedule installations, utilising sub-contractors where needed to supplement the employed installation teams.
- Support Commercial teams with practical installation designs and solutions to allow installations to proceed as fast as possible whilst meeting the requirements of customer sites.
- Maximise On Time In Full delivery and minimise Time To Deliver.
- Lead collaboration between operational and sales team, building a culture of operational support to achieve commercial objectives, whilst building technical skills in sales teams.
- Develop lead and office based and field technical teams to achieve commercial and productivity KPIs, maximising quality, efficiency and customer delivery.
- Drive operational and technical best practice to ensure minimal order drop-out and minimal time to install.
- Drive installation forecasting, with weekly data led delivery forecasts that accurately predict delivery value and volume across all key lines of business.
- Drive ‘right first time’ installation performance, minimise installation fails and commissioning delays.
- Set and control budgets and associated performance metrics to achieve financial, customer service and efficiency objectives, whilst managing install cost per machine through efficient use of resources and appropriate control processes.
- Maintain rigorous Health & Safety standards across all teams, in line with JLA policies and industry regulation.
- Act as JLA’s thought leader and industry expert in delivery and installations excellence, driving continuous improvement and best practice to support the commercial growth plan with customer orientated installation solutions.
- Lead and mentor a high-performing team, creating a culture of accountability, continuous improvement and professional development that enables individuals and teams to perform at their best.
- Be an ambassador for continuous improvement, empowering the team and building capabilities to challenge established working practices and continuously drive improved effectiveness.

Knowledge and Skills
- Detailed understanding of technical installation of Commercial Laundry and Catering equipment, including all enabling requirements across various market sectors.
- Understanding of technical requirements for laundry and catering installations, including regulatory and legal framework surrounding gas, electrics, ventilation, etc.
- Analytical skills identify operational performance from data, including performance trends across operational KPIs.
- Background as Laundry or Catering installer.
- Understanding of continuous improvement techniques e.g. Lean.
Experience
- Demonstrable 5yrs+ experience leading the delivery of commercial installations, solving for customer requirements and supporting commercial growth.
- Experience leading field and office based teams, driving a culture of collaboration and building high performance.
- Experience driving technical standards, processes, and continuous improvement.
- Experience managing budgets with P&L responsibility and accountability for achieving targets.
- Demonstrable experience in process improvement.

Qualifications
- Technical qualifications in Gas and / or Electric.
