Collaborating with the Product Managers, Visual Designers, Courseware Developers and Subject Matter Experts (SMEs), you will design and implement effective learning journeys that optimise user engagement and efficiency.

This role requires a strong understanding of educational design principles, a keen eye for detail and a learner-focused approach to address diverse learning needs. Working closely with SMEs, you will translate our customer requirements into creating engaging content that aligns with company goals and instructional design standards. You will also be instrumental in the refurbishment of our legacy library into innovative, engaging and highly interactive eLearning for a maritime audience across the globe.

By partnering with cross-functional teams and leveraging user feedback, you will ensure continuous improvement and innovation in our learning solutions, delivering a seamless and highly efficient learning experience.

Please note this will be an 18 month fixed term contract

Key Responsibilities

Needs Analysis

  • Conduct thorough needs assessments to identify learning gaps and objectives.
  • Work with subject matter experts (SMEs) to validate assumptions.

Content Development

  • Create engaging and interactive online learning materials.
  • Collaborate with SMEs to structure and define learning content.
  • Determine optimal methods and multimedia combinations for delivering eLearning content.
  • Specify activities and instructions to accommodate diverse learning styles.

Technology Integration

  • Utilise and recommend authoring tools and learning technologies to deliver innovative and effective learning solutions.

Assessment & Evaluation

  • Partner with the Learning Experience (LX) Manager to develop assessment strategies to measure learning effectiveness.
  • Evaluate the impact of training programs.

  • Collaborate with SMEs, stakeholders, and team members to ensure training content accuracy and relevance.
  • Self-manage instructional design efforts, including timelines and resources.
  • Distribute accurate production requirements to visual designers.
  • Liaise with content engineers to ensure seamless production.

Continuous Improvement

  • Stay updated on emerging trends and best practices in instructional design and learning technologies.
  • Share articles, events, ideas, and methodologies with the design team to improve processes and outputs.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

Educational Attainment

  • A professional qualification in instructional design.

Professional Background

  • Experience working collaboratively in a team environment.
  • A pragmatic understanding of managing high-quality content with a professional and resilient attitude toward handling diverse individuals.

Expected Areas of Competence

  • Empathy and Learner-Centric Design: Ability to understand the learner’s needs and create optimal learning experiences through well-structured learning journey roadmaps.
  • Learning Production Expertise: Proficiency in learning production processes, including ADDIE and agile practices.
  • Visual Storytelling: Mastery of visual storytelling to craft compelling and engaging educational content.
  • Conceptualisation and Problem Solving: Strong conceptual and analytical skills with a keen eye for detail.
  • Communication and Collaboration: Exceptional communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to work effectively in cross-functional environments.
  • Commitment to Quality: A passion for maintaining high standards of quality in all design work with an eye for detail.
