Ross-On-Wye Sea Cadets Volunteer Opportunity

Ross-On-Wye Sea Cadets are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated person to join its staff of Cadet Force Adult Volunteers. We are an established Sea Cadet unit that has provided life-changing opportunities for many young people.

What difference will you make?

Providing a friendly and educational environment, you will help our young people reach their potential and push themselves to learn more. Our volunteers help our cadets through the Cadet Training Programme (CTP) which puts them on a pathway to promotion and opens new life-changing opportunities.

What are we looking for?

Desirable

  • Prior experience in teaching
  • Problem-solving & thinking outside the box
  • Prior experience working or volunteering with young people
  • Prior experience in a specific subject area, such as First Aid, Boating, or the Armed Forces
  • Ability to work as part of a team and independently
  • Ability to recognise the learning needs of each young person

What will you be doing?

  • Deliver lessons, assist with events, or run competitions with young people aged between 9-18.
  • Share your skills and interests with young people, such as:
    • Catering
    • Archery
    • Meteorology
    • Navigation
    • Orienteering
    • First aid
    • Engineering
    • Photography
    • Marketing
    • Football coaching
    • IT
    • Social media
    • Driving

You could also share your skills out on the water with the next generation, through the opportunity to teach watersports such as kayaking, sailing, powerboating, canoeing, rowing, and windsurfing. If you don’t have any watersport qualifications, we’ll provide you with all the equipment, training, and the opportunity to gain national qualifications with the Royal Yachting Association, British Rowing, and UK Paddle.
