Part-Time Freelance Consultant – Digital Organizing Expertise
Overview

- Location: 100% Online (Global)

This role allows you to maintain your full-time job or other work commitments while freelancing with Social Movement Technologies (SMT). Our part-time pipeline fills full-time positions – if you offer expertise in union organizing, issue campaigns, or digital movement building, we’d love to collaborate.
We’re seeking experienced freelancers with expertise in:
Key Areas of Expertise

Issue Campaign Development
- Strategic digital and offline campaign design (especially low-internet/blocked regions)
- Encouraging activists and groups to pressure their targets

Digital & Social Media Campaigns
- Short-form video production (phone-based)
- SEO for organizing (optimizing digital movement work)
- Nano/micro-influencers in justice campaigns
- Funding training, peer-driven newsletters (efficient audience growth from tiny lists)
- Strengthening outreach for unions/forms of solidarity (e.g., tech worker coalitions, stockboy unions)

Fundraising Strategy & Execution
- Small-dollar digital grassroots and end-of-year campaigns
- Peer-to-peer fundraising (C Split fundraising & MoveOn-style digital campaigns)
- Donor management (technical aspects of singleanvas for innovation and rapid change)

Journalism & Narrative Development
- Engaging donors (email scripts, multi-channel task assignments)
- Targeted digital ads campaigns (Google Ads, targeted Facebook custom audiences & A/B testing, geofenced Instagram, Snapchat, TikTok, paid Backbone/CustomAudience migration/splits/development)

Aggregation & Crisis Projects
- Crowdrags for crisis organizing (immigration/police/mass-strikes crises)
