Employment Type: Permanent

Location: Aberdeen

Hours of Work: 37.5 hours per week, Monday - Friday 0730 - 1600

We are seeking a motivated and experienced Instructor/Lifting Consultant to deliver high quality training and provide technical and operational support to clients across our training centre and customer sites. This varied role combines instructional delivery with technical guidance, operational support, equipment management, and continuous improvement activities, ensuring the highest standards of safety, compliance, and customer service.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver accredited and in-house training courses at training centres and client sites.
  • Conduct technical reviews and audits of client systems, processes, equipment, and personnel.
  • Provide technical reports to clients and management.
  • Deliver competency assurance and development internally and to clients.
  • Develop, review, and prepare technical documentation, training materials, and associated resources.
  • Maintenance of plant, equipment, and materials used in the training centre.
  • Support of client & company activities as a technical and/or operational function (e.g., lift plan review, assurance & verification, and provision of cover of client/site-based personnel).
  • Promote and uphold industry best practice behaviour and activities.
  • Mentor and support the development of less experienced colleagues through cross-development & training.
  • Create and develop client and inter-company process & documentation.
  • Development, review, and delivery of training materials.
  • Support management with internal and external accreditation activities.
  • Assembly and packaging of NSL products.
  • Project overview of sea fastening projects as required.

Minimum Competencies (Skills, Knowledge and Behaviours)

  • Extensive experience within the lifting industry.
  • Valid offshore certification (OPITO BOSIET/HUET/FOET and Offshore Medical).
  • Strong knowledge of lifting operations, including cranes, heavy lift, transportation, and energy sector requirements.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, report writing, and relationship management skills.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills with a high attention to detail.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and general IT systems.
  • Flexible, adaptable, and able to work effectively under pressure while maintaining high standards.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Full UK Driving licence.
  • Recognised Instructional techniques qualification.
  • Rigging & Lifting - NSL/EAL L3, OPITO St.3/4, NPORS, etc.
  • Banksman Slinger - NSL/EAL L3, OPITO St.3/4, NPORS, etc.
  • Competence Assessor (SQA, OPITO, or equivalent)
  • NEBOSH General Certificate (or equivalent)

Desirable Qualifications

  • Degree or diploma level qualification in Mechanical Engineering/Lifting Operations
  • LOLER Competent Person (OPITO/NSL or equivalent)
  • Appointed Person (CPCS/NPORS or equivalent)
  • Lifting Equipment Inspection (NSL/LEEA or equivalent)
  • Internal Verifier Qualification
  • Mechanical Lifting Operator Experience (Mobile/Pedestal Crane)
