Self-Employed Fitness & Wellness Instructors – Lower Earley, Reading
Company Description
The Better YOU Project is an established health, fitness and wellbeing business based in Reading, Berkshire.
Our aim has always been simple: to help people become healthier, happier, stronger and more confident, while creating an environment where people feel genuinely supported rather than intimidated or lost.
After building an established Personal Training and coaching business, we have now expanded into our new private training and wellness studio in Lower Earley, Reading.
The new facility brings together:
- 1-to-1 Personal Training
- Small Group Personal Training
- Yoga
- Pilates
- Mobility and movement
- Health and wellbeing services
- Recovery and treatment services
We are building something intentionally different from a traditional commercial gym — a welcoming, personal environment where clients are known by name and receive high-quality coaching and support.
As we prepare to launch our wider class timetable from mid to late September, we are looking to build a fantastic team of local instructors who share those values.
Role Description
We are looking for self-employed Fitness and Wellness Instructors to deliver sessions from our new studio in Lower Earley, Reading (RG6).
We have opportunities for both:
- Regular weekly sessions
- Ad-hoc / holiday and sickness cover
We would therefore love to hear from you even if you are already teaching elsewhere and are only interested in joining our instructor cover team.
We are particularly interested in instructors specialising in:
- Pilates
- Yoga
- Mobility / Stretch
- Strength & Conditioning
- Small Group Fitness
- Pre & Post Natal Exercise
- Menopause-focused exercise
- Functional Fitness
- Older Adult Exercise
- Other complementary health and wellbeing disciplines

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Every day your agent scans the market matching roles against what actually matters to you, not just keywords on a CV.
Why you're a good match
You’ve got the grades and the economics background, and your bank internship is exactly the experience this scheme looks for. Apply soon — deadlines close within the month.
Experience fit
Your summer at the bank plus your econometrics coursework map directly to the day-one responsibilities on this scheme — client modelling, market briefings, and deal support.
Only hits
No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.
There are potential opportunities across mornings, daytime, evenings and weekends, depending on experience and availability.
Our Small Group Personal Training sessions are deliberately capped at 6 people, allowing coaches to provide a much more individual and supportive experience.
Yoga, Pilates and other studio classes can accommodate larger groups depending on the session format.
As an instructor, you will be responsible for delivering safe, engaging, welcoming and professionally coached sessions while adapting where appropriate for different abilities and experience levels.
We want every person walking into the studio — regardless of their starting point — to feel comfortable, supported and that they belong there.
What We’re Looking For
We would love to hear from instructors who are:
- Friendly, approachable and confident working with people
- Passionate about providing a high standard of coaching
- Reliable and professional
- Comfortable working with different ages, abilities and confidence levels
- Able to create an inclusive and supportive environment
- Good communicators who genuinely care about their clients
- Happy working as part of a wider health and wellbeing team
- Interested in becoming part of the studio and community as it grows
Qualifications & Requirements
Applicants should have:
- Relevant qualifications for the sessions they intend to deliver
- Appropriate professional and/or public liability insurance
- Up-to-date knowledge within their area of expertise
- Experience delivering group sessions is desirable
- First Aid qualification is desirable
- Additional specialist qualifications are welcomed
