Burkart Flutes and Piccolos

Burkart is a boutique manufacturing company that builds high-end musical instruments in an innovative, team-driven, rewarding environment. At Burkart, we champion talent and value collaboration and efficiency. Burkart enjoys a 44-year history of providing the finest flutes and piccolos to musicians around the world. We are currently looking for a technician to join our team as a flute and piccolo finisher. Burkart is a 100% employee-owned company.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Mechanical fine tuning of newly made key work
  • Machine buffing of parts
  • Fitting of joints and minor soft soldering
  • Springing, padding, regulating, and testing of new and repair flutes and piccolos
  • Play testing of instruments at a professional level
  • Detailing and packaging of completed instruments
  • Operation of company production software

Requirements

  • HS Diploma
  • Completion of bachelor’s degree in flute performance or equivalent flute/piccolo playing skills
  • Minimum of 1 year experience in flute/piccolo repair or manufacturing of new instruments

Skills and Experience

  • Proficient flute/piccolo playing
  • Ability to take instruction and critique
  • Patience and attention to detail
  • Excellent manual dexterity and mechanical aptitude
  • Ability to work through obstacles to meet challenging deadlines
  • Ability to collaborate with a cross-functional team to achieve company goals
  • Good vision for technical work
  • Woodwind repair experience is a plus

The position is full-time, on-site in our Shirley, MA facility. Benefits include health, disability, and life insurances, paid sick and vacation, 401K plus participation in Employee Stock Option Plan.
