Instrument Pipefitter
Location: Sunderland
Salary: Up to £39,700 per annum DOE (£20.64 per hour) + Enhanced Overtime
Hours: Monday to Friday, 37 hours per week
Overtime: 1.4x hourly rate Monday-Friday | 1.8x hourly rate Sundays
Benefits: 25 days annual leave + Bank Holidays | Company pension

The Opportunity
We are recruiting for an experienced Instrument Pipefitter to join an established and growing specialist engineering business in Sunderland. Due to increased project activity and continued growth, the business is looking to add to its existing piping team.
This is a hands-on role focused predominantly on small bore tubing, non-welded pipework, and hydraulic/instrumentation piping systems. Please note: this is not a fabrication/welded pipefitting position. Candidates should have practical experience of measuring, bending, forming, and installing small bore or instrumentation pipework.
The role will predominantly involve work from the Sunderland operation and local customer sites, with opportunities to support projects elsewhere in the UK, overseas, and potentially offshore.
The Role
Working independently and as part of a wider piping team, your responsibilities will include:
- Measuring, bending, forming, and installing small bore and instrumentation pipework
- Manufacturing simple and complex pipe geometries
- Working with non-welded piping systems
- Measuring pipe runs and bending pipework to suit site requirements
- Mechanical assembly and installation
- Marking out and installing brackets and associated equipment
- Reading and interpreting P&IDs, piping schematics, and engineering drawings
- Producing drawings and sketches for site measurement and estimating purposes
- Carrying out installation work at customer sites
- Maintaining and servicing associated equipment
- Working safely in accordance with company and customer H&S requirements
- Liaising professionally with customers and other members of the project team

Full training will be provided on the company's specialist products, systems, and equipment.
What We're Looking For
The key requirement is previous hands-on experience as an Instrument Pipefitter, Small Bore Tubing Fitter, or similar.
You should have experience in areas such as:
- Instrumentation pipefitting
- Small Bore Tubing (SBT)
- Measuring, bending, and forming pipe/tubing
- Non-welded pipework systems
- Reading P&IDs, schematics, and engineering drawings
- Site installation and measurement
Experience with hydraulic pipework or hydraulic systems would be highly advantageous. Previous experience within oil & gas, offshore, energy, marine, industrial engineering, or similar environments would also be beneficial.
Candidates must also have:
- Full UK driving license
- Good understanding of industrial health & safety requirements
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Flexibility to work overtime and occasional weekends when required
- Willingness to travel to customer sites
- Passport and willingness to travel overseas where required

Desirable
- Hydraulic systems experience
- Offshore BOSIET
- Current offshore medical
- Forklift license
- Previous offshore or international project experience
Trade Test
As part of the interview process, candidates will be required to complete a practical pipefitting trade test. This will involve demonstrating the ability to accurately measure and bend pipework, ensuring candidates have the practical hands-on capability required for the position.
Salary & Benefits
- Up to £39,700 per annum, depending on experience
- Basic rate equivalent to £20.64 per hour
