Job Description

Agilent inspires and supports discoveries that advance the quality of life by providing life science, diagnostic, and applied market laboratories worldwide with instruments, services, consumables, applications, and expertise in both measurement and asset management.

Agilent is seeking an experienced and commercially driven Instrument Sales Manager to lead a team supporting our Chromatography and Mass Spectrometry business across Academia and Life Science Research markets. This leadership role combines responsibility for a high-performing sales organization with strategic ownership of two key market segments.

This role is responsible for setting and executing commercial strategy, developing a high-performing sales organization, and driving sustainable business growth. The successful candidate will lead a team of Account Managers and Inside Sales professionals responsible for selling Agilent's analytical instrumentation and informatics portfolio, including Chromatography, Mass Spectrometry, Spectroscopy, and Laboratory Informatics solutions. In addition, they will develop and execute market strategies that drive sustainable growth, expand market presence, and strengthen Agilent's position across Academic and Life Science Research customers.

Key Responsibilities

Sales Leadership

  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of sales professionals to achieve business objectives and foster a high-performance culture.
  • Drive accountability through effective territory management, pipeline development, forecasting accuracy, and performance management.
  • Develop and execute annual business plans to deliver revenue, growth, and profitability targets.
  • Support the team in navigating complex customer opportunities and strategic account engagements.
  • Ensure effective deployment of resources and alignment of sales activities to business priorities.

Market Leadership

  • Serve as the strategic leader for the Academic and Life Science Research market segments within the UK and Ireland.
  • Develop and execute market growth strategies that align with Agilent's broader commercial objectives.
  • Identify emerging trends, customer needs, competitive dynamics, and market opportunities.
  • Collaborate with global and regional business units to influence portfolio, marketing, and go-to-market strategies.
  • Champion customer-centric solutions that strengthen Agilent's market position and drive long-term growth.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Partner closely with Marketing, Product Specialists, Applications, Service, and Support Sales to deliver an exceptional customer experience.
  • Lead strategic initiatives that support organizational goals and continuous business improvement.
  • Foster strong collaboration across commercial teams to maximize customer value and business performance.

Qualifications

Must Have

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in a scientific, technical, or business-related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years of sales experience within the analytical, laboratory, scientific instrumentation, or related capital equipment industry.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience through people management, project leadership, team development, or mentoring responsibilities.
  • Strong commercial acumen with experience developing sales strategies, managing business performance, and driving results through others.
  • Excellent communication, coaching, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Fluency in English, with strong verbal and written communication skills.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with analytical instrumentation technologies such as Chromatography, Mass Spectrometry, Spectroscopy, or related laboratory solutions.
  • Experience supporting Academia, Life Science Research, Pharmaceutical, Biotechnology, or Government research customers.
  • Experience in Product Management, Applications, Technical Sales, or other scientific-commercial leadership roles within the analytical instrumentation industry.
